I've been waiting for months for the organizer to announce the bands for '08, and what do I get for all my patience?
Well basically the "overpriced" festival is not worth going to next year.

^ totally agree from Megadeth to Iron Maiden to *cough* Korn ....

Surely enough I will be absent (I mean c'mon KORN!!!!)

nice to see ppl from the area think the line up sucks
cos so far everybody seems to like the line up and think its cool!!!

but i wasnt suprised really the organizer last year brought the prodigy and a very strange bands
why they dont add 50 cent ? it wont be that strange lol

i know it was a separate show, but they should bring them for ddrf

man, I wish I was going even though Korn are playing. The first one was great. Derrick Green actually earned a lot of respect from die-hard Cavalera fans like myself - he truly did songs like Attitude and Roots bloody roots justice - whereas I thought he would ruin them.

I'll never forget Andreas Kisser and Robb Flynn doing a cover of Four Horsemen.

Anyway, although Contraband didn't impress me much and I havent heard the others, Velvet Revolver will still be an excellent sight - fucking Slash dude! Killswitch engage will be fucking intense and then there's Machine Head, who seem to really like the desert rock festival now. Before they said it was one of the most appreciated gigs they've ever done - that's why I think they've come back.

Anyway, my view is that because of these reasons, whether Korn are playing or not, anyone who has the chance should go see it.

I'm hoping in the future it'll grow in popularity and become a two-day weekend festival with camping. That would indeed be awesome.

yes sepultura did an amazing and brutal show,but remember kisser and robb did the cover of creeping death not four horsemen

its already 2 days but no camping 1 day they call it (rock) the other day (sweet rock) just kidding
no really somthin like that they put what they call it (heavy) bands in the first day
the second day for what they call it (rock) bands
so if korn in the first day = (heavy)
then the second day will be britney spears = (rock)

i think if this the final line up we should really ignore the fest and let them lose money,so next year they respect us
and make it up with the mighty slayer or something!!!!

dude they blatantly did four horsemen as well. they did a couple, and they announced it before playing it to get the crowd going.

As for your second point......what? the last day is always bigger headliners.

Therefore at a metal/rock festival the last day would be the heaviest. The first is usually smaller punk/rock bands.

He's also played in Wacken three years ago and people absolutely enjoyed his show. If he's been invited to play at Wacken, I don't see why he shouldn't play at Dubai. After all it's Dubai Desert Rock Fest and not Metal Fest.

btw i heard the organizers facing some problems this year,why they didnt put the tickets on sale so far? only 4 days left! also i heard they will change the fest location!

its just weird seeing marky ramone in conjunction with killswitch and whatnot. i didnt even know he played at wacken in the past. oh well.

And Muse has been announced as Saturday's headliner.

i went to there official site they said it will be on sale from tomorrow
dude only 2 days left and they want ppl to buy the tickets in advancend???
also its 50dh more than the last year, beside the silly line up
so i rather save my money & time
btw the organizers tried to bring metallica but lars and co asked for 1 million$
no wonder,the organizers used to spoil the bands with this 7 star hotel in dubai so metallica tried to
see how far they can go,i think they might nail it if they asked for 700.000$ lol

its never about getting well known i think this what spoiled metal today
its becoming a wave or cool thing

the middle east scene is great and getting better its not what u see in this festival
this is a commercial fest,something like ozzfest or even less!

and tell you its reflect nothing from the true middle east scene
there is a very committed underground scene from iran,saudi arabia,qatar,bahrin,palestine,and believe it or not afghanistan!to
and some great bands from israel as well

the middle east metal scene is amazing

kind of late...I understand now why they say that Dubai is one of the most expensive areas in the world!! even in metal!!
