Well, it is a statistical fact that people's taste in music is typically stuck in their formative years, regardless of genre. Active music enthusiasts whose taste continues to radically evolve past their late teens are uncommon.

@tintinb - Doesn't surprise me that most people are introduced to metal by someone else in their formative years. It isn't promoted like other music. It is rarely on TV or radio. Kids are only exposed to pop and indie music.

I mean, if someone is above a certain age, say in the range of 25 and above, and has been listening to mostly other sort of music till now, the chances of him being converted into a fully fledged metalhead would be pretty slim.
