Once again, the fourth edition of the biggest French extreme music festival will take place in the heart of the vineyard of Nantes. Hellfest 2009 is already being announced as the biggest Metal event ever to hit France. No less than 108 bands from across the globe will spread across four stages to play a three-day marathon of Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Rock, Hardcore, Death Metal, Glam, Sludge, Doom, Black Metal, Grind, Thrash, Industrial, Progressive, Punk, and more. You'll also find our Extreme Market with more than 40 vendors, a tattoo parlor, various restaurants, a wine bar, and a lot of entertainers, including a ring with the best French wrestlers. All that in a well decorated and illuminated outdoor area near the fortified town of Clisson, with its fantastic heritage. We invite you to walk around the heart of the city, which will also offer more entertainment and expositions. The camp ground and its Metal Corner will constitute the best place to begin or continue the party all night long and maybe meet people… Concerts DJ Sets, and more!

Hellfest will be more than a series of concerts: it will be a nonstop party, a place to escape the tedium of our drab society and recharge your batteries with positive energy!

We strongly encourage you to buy your ticket as soon as possible, as space is limited! We have already sold three times as many tickets as we did last year at this time.

We promise you an event that will stay in your memories. If you were here with us in 2008, enough said. If you were not here last year, and still have never experienced this unique atmosphere, you know what needs to be done!

I'm sure Helloween and Gamma Ray would have converted you last year if you had given in to yourself and watched them. Hahahaha, only true happiness can be found when you are honest with yourself.
Hahahahahaha.
Promonex - 27.03.2009 at 19:12
Actually Ahab made me happier than both Helloween and Gamma Ray. And I'm not even into funeral doom

Hell no, I've actually seen Helloween live. Full set. Yes, that may be shocking. I liked it, but only because i was in that 'wooh festival all metal is good' mood.
BRJ Events - 10.04.2009 at 18:55
Just a seriously legendary festival!
Baz Anderson - 14.04.2009 at 19:13
Well I booked my place on the bus there, so I shall be there once more!
Shall be good to meet all these Metal Stormers I've not met before, and of course see everyone I do know again.

But hey, we got to see you only when you were waking up and when you were going to to sleep, otherwise you just disappeared during the day! Don't do that again!

You little liar, were'nt we watching Watain in the tent ?! Right after Shining!
Baz Anderson - 17.04.2009 at 15:49
Haha, well it depends what is going on. Last year if I wasn't watching a show, I was running to the backstage to do an interview. That's probably what it will be like this year - but we should say that if we're not watching a show, we should congregate at our little meeting spot in front of the VIP bar like last year.

Holy shit the program is fucked up big time, too many good bands in just 3 days, if i were organizer i'd have extended it to 4 days or something, i mean WASP and Mastodon get 45 minutes to play, Dream Theater just one hour(that would mean they'd play only 2-3 songs lol), Amon Amarth and Moonspell one hour or so each, i wouldn't complain if i could attend it but it seems pretty weird.

I am actually very glad that bands play 1 hour at most. Now Dream Theater will have to play their interesting songs instead of their boring ones.
An hour for a band max gives you better opportunities to check out UNKNOWN bands, Why watch the bands you already know to death? It is much more fun discovering something great you had never heard of before.

hmmm well you are right to think that, given you know tons of bands already it's good to see some new stuff, but i'm speaking out of my experience.. at least if it were one of my favorite bands, such as Iced Earth, i'd sure as hell preferred if they played for much more than an hour.

and you are completely right about Dream Theater... now they can't play Erotomania and the likes still i predict their set will consist of a Learning to Live-The Dark Eternal Night-The Glass Prison-Fatal Tragedy(just listed random songs lol) acoustic medley with extended guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, kazoo, fart and tambourine solos...
Jeff - 05.05.2009 at 13:08

There last couple of albums are actually almost totally non-metal if you ask me.
But of course the word poser does not mean that a band isn't metal, it just means they are posing and posturing, whihc Manowar of course have always done. Just look at the silly clothes and sill things they say. They are imo on of the insincerest bands around.

Yes, cause there is more non-metal on there than metal that in my books it isn't metal. Just like Metallica's Death Magnetic is noyt a thrash album just because it has some thrashy moments.

@Marcel H. : well yeah, that's true they do "pose and posture".......but which albums are non-metal in your opinion

Did you actually listen to their latest?

Oh come on! is because of the interludes and excess orchestrations?

I've even seen a magazine reviewing that album as audio book

audiobook

Sure. Of 74 minutes only 48 minutes were actual songs and of those only 20 minutes were metal. You can't really call that a metal album, can you?

Hey dude, it's a shame you're not coming this year, I'll miss the Moroccan jokes. Btw, is there any festival or concert taking place this summer in Casablanca? I kind of lost contact with my friends there, I don't know what is going on in the "bled" anymore.
