If you consider more than 1.200 km quite close, than it is
Btw some cool bands up for now, also I like the location of this fest. |

For such a great not-completely-commercial metal lineup, as in, a lot of good bands that put quality above commercial success, this is definitely quite close believe me |

Zadar is kind of... not really friendly to Serbs. Let's just say there were incidents. Not sure if I'd get the permission to go there. |

Yeah it is, they're from my hometown I'm not *too* worried about them, nor I would be too worried about myself if I managed to go, nor am I trying to insult any Croatian people here, it's just that, there are some places in both of our countries where shit tends to go down a bit more often for the people of the "opposite" nation so they have some bad reputation. And you're always advised to exercise caution and try not to start shit up if you go. And for those of us with paranoid parents, you're advised not to go at all I guess. |

Just don't worry
Yeah, I do know them. One of the rare Serbian bands that are actually good, although I imagine the style might not be to your liking |

I've actually heard them, not too bad actually. Maybe not something that would repeat on my playlists, but still pretty good. |

Last year at the metalfest in Zadar there were many Serbs and no incidents occured. I gues the metal community kind of outgrows political history. But in the end I think it's up to the individual stupidity and not the place. I'd welcome any metalhead to my city. |

Plus another 30-40 bands. |

| Pretty solid lineup for now, though similar (same promo I suppose) I prefer a bit more the metaldays one except for one little detail.... THE KING !!!!!! |

I won't be surprised if metal days have a very similar line up. There will be a lot of bands playing both. The headliners will be different though |

No need to establish two close-distance festivals with the same line up.
About 25% of the same bands will appear on both events. |

80 euros is dirt cheap for this line-up.
Usual festival price for such a line-up would be between 150 and 200 euros |
|
|
|
| This looks a bit like Wacken's 2007 lineup, which cost 130 euros (around 150 euros today), so yeah 80 is a really good price. |
|
|
|
80€ is more than acceptable price for this kind of 4-day fest line-up, which doesn't look bad at all till now.
I've also started considering of attending this festival instead of going to Metaldays (ex-Metalcamp). |
|
|
|
| Iced Earth! Blah!! i think i'll skip that sleeping in my tent, hahaahhahaha |

I've noticed some talking that Milena provides here at this forum.Dear Milena the
topic here is metal and beautiful festival at our nice town and not your frustrated nation!!
I assure everyone overhere and you that there is no animosity in Zadar towards your people or anybody else.
Maybe you're refernig to stupid football hooligans I don't know but please don't do this. If you want to come
here don't be afraid and if you don't then just don't come.I never been to your country and probably never will
and thats it.We are all friends in the eyes of metal |

Edit: went in and edited my post as this discussion was over months ago and I wasn't interested in restarting it. To everyone who's going, have a good time, the seaside is reportedly beautiful and the lineup kicks ass. I would just ask mr. bblitz there not to single me out, nor "my frustrated nation", which I don't feel like I "belong" to anyway. We are all citizens of the world and the peoples that inhabit the Balkans all came from the same place - we are all brothers and friends, not by "metal" really (which is a bit naive to say) but by our heart and soul. Even if we sometimes don't get along. Cheers.

Found this on facebook as to why the festival has been cancelled:
BURNING SEA festival forced to be canceled
Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, we have been forced to cancel the BURNING SEA festival for 2013, although ticket sales were much better than METALFEST tickets last year!
The Croatian government decides to charge an extra VAT of 25 % to the regular ticket prices also for cultural associations. Originally and until now, all of our calculations (e.g. Metalfest 2012) were made with 0 % VAT due to cultural tax exceptions as stated on tickets as well.
Only a couple of days ago we were informed by the tax office about the changes in VAT law.
We are not able to buffer a 25 % backup, so in the end there is no way for us to make the BURNING SEA festival into a business that is profitable - Even if it would be SOLD OUT!
We were not able to find an investor in such a small period of time. We are a private owned and runned company, so without any big industry behind us, there is no way for us to make this festival running without knowing how much money we would loose.
With this cancelation we are joying HGU (Croatian union of musicians) in their protests against this tax law, and hope that in 2014 Croatia will not be European state with highest Taxes when it comes to festival/concerts tickets prices.
For your better understanding, Germany has 7%, Slovenia 8,5%, and Austria 9% taxes on income made on festival/concert tickets.
We will try to revitalize BURNING SEA in 2014, based on a new calculation and unfortunately with a ticket price including the VAT.
All ticket money will be refunded at the shops where they were bought originally! PLEASE CONTACT THE SHOPS WHERE YOU BOUGHT YOUR TICKET. |

Cancelled! What the fuck realy, an extra 25% tax for a regular ticket price?!? No comment.
Croatian government has already had some absurd moves in the past within the field of tourism, which brougth on the end more or less negative effects. However, this generally might not be such a big effect, but anyway, it's definitely not bright move. Fuck them... |

Oh man, this is really shitty. I'm just so bummed out with this news, and so close to the fest. A lot of planning has gone down the drain |
