Update by Chris through Alestorm's official Facebook:
"Greetings my fellow bawbags, pirates, and gobshites!
It is my very great pleasure to announce that on January 10th, Alestorm will be heading to the studio to record our 3rd album, which we're gonna call Back Through Time. It's gonna be an epic adventure through piratical badassery in 11 tracks, with more drunken singalong anthems than you can shake a stick at. There will be songs about midgets. There will be songs about Wisconsin. There will be songs about travelling through time to kill Vikings. And of course, loads of songs about pirates doing what they do best; kicking your ass and stealing your wenches!
Lasse Lammert will once again be at the helm of the production, at his LSD Studios in Lubeck, Germany. We'll be there for about a month (1 week of recording, 3 weeks of alcohol abuse), and we're hopefully looking at a release in early summer, in time for us to kick your asses with these songs at all the festivals.
Alestorm drummer Ian Wilson bailed out his band... again. Here is Wilson's final statement:
"So aye, I quit Alestorm earlier this week because I'd basically just had enough of all the bullshit that goes with being in that band. I'm not going to divulge much information because I'm totally done with it. But I will say that for me I had nothing more to give to the band and had no time left for some of the people in Alestorm. So that was what my final decision was based on.
The positive from this is I can now focus all my attention on music I want to play! I've been writing material for my new band The Bloodless which I've formed with some old band mates from Catharist, and I've also been able to recruit my boy Pat Henry (Swashbuckle) on vocals which I'm excited about. We're playing some old school death metal inspired by shit like Hypocrisy, Entombed and Death Breath and I'm quite sure it's gonna be a success judging by the material we've got already!"
Alestorm vocalist Christopher Bowes has announced the following... statement:
"Strewth! Bugger! Crikey! I'm freakin' excited to tell you all that we've just confirmed our first ever Australian Tour. We've been waiting for this a long time, and now it's finally happening. We'll be coming to Oz in the month of June 2010 for four gigs, as part of the "Plunder Down Under" tour. Yeah, most obvious name for a tour ever, I know. Deal with it, bitches."
Support will come from a band called Claim The Throne. Apparently these chaps have a song called "Set Sail On Ale" , so yeah, these two sure belong together.
