Swedish traditional heavy metal band Astral Doors are busy working on a new album, tentatively penciled in for an October release.
The band revealed the following about the upcoming album: "The work with the upcoming album continues. Even though we're not even half way through the process we can already feel that this release will be something special. This time around we deal with religion, and all the shit it has brought to the world, once and for all and the working title of the album is Jerusalem. Our intention is that the album will be released in October in connection with a European tour.
The first DVD from the band is also in the making. Some additional material will be filmed this summer and we're talking about a winter release."

Only a few months after Swedish traditional heavy metal band Astral Doors released their sixth longplayer Requiem Of Time, the band now announced their plans to release more material. The band is in the middle of setting up a compilation album, aptly titled The Best Of Astral Doors. This best of album will see a release somewhere in November. Guitarist Martin Haglund has decided to leave Astral Doors. Martin explains:
"This decision has not been easy to make, but its needed. I have reached a point where I feel I have to focus more on my kids and support them in their hobbies and interests, by doing that I'm not able to give Astral Doors 100%. I don´t want to be the one that´s holding the band back so I let go. I will continue playing, writing and record music but on a more suitable level. I´ll keep the metal flowing that´s for sure.
Being a member of Astral Doors has given me experiences and memories that I'll bring to the grave. I am truly proud of my time in Astral Doors and what we have accomplished and brought to the hard-rock scene. Thanks and hugs to all of you! Now Astral Doors will reload and hit you harder then ever."

Swedish metallers Astral Doors have issued the following update:
"It's about time that we give you all a real update of what's happening in the Astral Kingdom at the moment.
We've received many mails from worried fans asking us where we are and why it's so quiet from us right now. Well, the answer is: we're working harder than ever before, but not public.
We have actually moved into the studio, writing and recording songs for the upcoming album. We have written 20 songs ot something at the moment and more will come. The creativity has never been at this level before, so we will continue the work a few more months before we go to mixing.
What more to say? Well, our new management Flying Dolphin, with Mr.Chris Boltendahl in the lead, does a great job for us and we feel that the future looks very, very promising. In August we'll come up with a big surprise for you and then a new album and a great tour all across Europe.
Swedish metallers Astral Doors have issued the following studio report:
"We have started writing songs for the upcoming album which will be released mid-September 2009 on Locomotive Records. The sessions so far have been just great; it's business as usual. Our goal with all our albums has always been to create world-class hard rock and the same goes for this one: when the album is recorded, pressed and released we wanna say: Fuck, we created a monster! Stay in touch for updates and gossip from the recordings. "
The following message was posted on Astral Doors's official website:
"As you can see here, the new cover for our upcoming album "New Revelation" is done. It was created by the Germany company Killustrations (cover here).
We've uploaded one full song and 2 samples for you to check out of "New Revelation". The full song is the title-track. We're very curious to hear your opinion on it, so feel free to leave us a comment in the guestbook or on our new forum (which should be online within the next few days)." "The mixing process of the new album is almost finished and it sounds killer.
The Astral Doors were at a photo session the other night and it could have ended up in a disaster. Som technical equipment caught fire right in front of us. Fortunately we discovered the fire at an early stage and took care of it but the equipment got destroyed. Scary shit !"
