Finnish progressive metallers Barren Earth have unveiled more details about their new album. The band posted the following on their official website: "Barren Earth will release their sophomore full-length album, The Devil's Resolve, in North America on March 13, Japan and Finland on March 7 and rest of EU on March 12 via Peaceville Records. The effort will be made available on CD and vinyl, with artwork provided by notable U.S.-based artist Paul Romano (Mastodon)."
Finland's progressive death/doom metal band Barren Earth have entered Helsinki's Sonic Pump Studios to record the follow-up to last year's highly acclaimed debut album, Curse of the Red River.
The band has written 12 new songs, and is currently laying them down with engineer/co-producer Jukka Varmo. Dan Swanö (Katatonia, Opeth) will once again be at the mixing helm. The tracks mainly continue in the vein of the previous record, having perhaps even more 70's prog influences, but maintaining the basic heaviness and brutality one has come to associate with Barren Earth.
The album is due for release in autumn 2011 on Peaceville Records,
Following a successful first run in 2010, The Finnish Metal Tour will once again unleash itself on North America in early 2011.
Dubbed The Finnish Metal Tour 2, the trek will feature co-headliners Finntroll (Century Media) and Ensiferum (Spinefarm). Support will come from Barren Earth (Peaceville), and Rotten Sound (Relapse). The tour will start on January 31, 2011 in Orlando, Florida and conclude on March 4 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Tickets for the tour will be available starting August 17, 2010 via an exclusive Internet presale on EnterTheVault.com. VIP tickets will also be available and include a pre-show meet-and-greet with Finntroll and Ensiferum. All shows will then go on sale through normal ticketing systems on September 7, 2010.
Barren Earth has completed filming their first music video for the track "The Leer", taken from the band's debut full-length record, Curse of the Red River. The globally acclaimed release hit stores in the US last month on Peaceville Records. The brand new video for "The Leer" was directed by Owe Lingvall, and can be viewed exclusively at Metal Hammer.
Another track off Curse of the Red River, "Forlorn Waves", can be heard on the band's MySpace page.
The Curse Of The Red River, the debut album by Barren Earth has now been made available for streaming in its entirety at the website of Levykauppa Äx. The stream will end on March 30.

Finland's new prog/death act, Barren Earth, consisting of former members of Amorphis, plus current members of Swallow The Sun, Moonsorrow and Kreator, have uploaded a new video trailer to their YouTube channel, giving a glimpse into the writing and recording process of the tracks on the band's forthcoming Our Twilight EP. Our Twilight, Barren Earth's debut release, will hit US stores November 17th (Europe 9th, Finland 11th) on Peaceville Records.
Along with the album trailer, the band has uploaded the title track off the new EP to their official MySpace page. An audio sampler, previewing each of the four tracks on Our Twilight, can be heard at this location.
Barren Earth's debut full-length album, containing the extended version of Our Twilight, is slated for an early 2010 release, while the band's first live performance is scheduled for November 19th in their hometown of Helsinki.
