At this year's Wacken Open Air, DMAX followed power metal giants Blind Guardian. Wacken Open Air is one of the most visited and biggest music festivals in Europe. About 80,000 metal fans gather in the otherwise tranquil town every year without fail. With Blind Guardian and their crew, DMAX goes behind the big stage and has a look behind the scenes of Wacken Open Air for the first time: how do you experience such an event, if you're not a guest, but a part of the crew? The DMAX documentary focuses on the varied and hectic daily routine of the musicians on tour as well as the hard work of the "secret heroes" of Wacken Open Air (f.e. security, project manager), which is all running in the background unnoticedly.
Blind Guardian are preparing a special treat for their fans in North America. When they tour there this next September/October, the power metal band will perform their lauded 1995 album Imaginations From The Other Side live in its entirety. The album was released 20 years ago, so it seems like a good time to celebrate it.
While German power metallers Blind Guardian released their most recent album Beyond The Red Mirror this year, they have also been working on an orchestral album for quite some time. It appears that they will release a live album next year while the orchestral album is planned to arrive in 2017. Blind Guardian will be part of The Dwarves video game and soundtrack. Developer King Art has announced a cooperation with the power metal band. Not only will musicians from Blind Guardian perform parts of The Dwarves OST in their own style but there will also be a special quest involving Blind Guardian in the game. To perfectly blend that into the fantasy-world of Girdlegard, the developers from King Art and Blind Guardian are cooperating closely with the author of The Dwarves book series. The Dwarves is a story-driven single-player game based on the novel by Markus Heitz.
Blind Guardian are currently touring in Europe to showcase their new album Beyond The Red Mirror but soon enough their fans in North America will be able to see them live as well. Power metallers Blind Guardian have announced the addition of Dutch bassist Barend Courbois to the group's ranks. He was the band's live bassist since 2012. Courbois has played over 4,000 shows and recorded over 60 albums. He has worked with such musicians as Adrian Vandenberg (Whitesnake), Zakk Wylde and Atma Anur (Journey). In 2004, he was voted best metal and all-around bass player by Guitar Player magazine.

Recently, German power metallers Blind Guardianhave informed us that they were preparing a new album scheduled for an early 2015 release. The wait is over today folks! The band has revealed the title of their upcoming album: Beyond The Red Mirror which is scheduled for a January 30th, 2015 in Europe and February 3rd, 2015 release in North America. However, it will only happen next year, so you still have a little waiting to do. Below you find the first dates of their new European tour, that will see the band en route through nine different countries in April and May 2015. After a long period of silence, finally Blind Guardian's frontman Hansi Kürsch shared a long update, containing some of his thoughts about the upcoming show at the Out & Loud Festival in Geiselwind, Germany and many news concerning the progress of the upcoming album. As previously reported, Blind Guardian will release A Traveler's Guide To Space And Time next month, a limited edition 15 CD box set celebrating the first 25 years of the band that includes seven studio albums, the live albums Tokyo Tales and Live, and other goodies such as demo tapes, live rarities and extensive booklets with all tracks remastered and some even remixed. The band has now released a preview of eight songs that will be on that box set. You can see what to expect on the video below.
