"Robin Hood", the new video from German melodic metal band Edguy can now be watched below
Video director Oliver Sommer (Avantasia, Helloween) and the band decided to satirize the Errol Flynn film "The Adventures Of Robin Hood". The miniature epic was shot in the forest with a large number of additional actors, starring German TV comedian Bernhard Hoecker in two different leading roles.
Commented Edguy frontman Tobias Sammet: "When you decide to do things like that, of course, you have to be aware that you will most likely make a fool out of yourself. We had to wear tights and looked a bit like four idiots and one transvestite. But we have come to a point we don't care so much anymore. We feel like being in a luxury position where the record label gives us a lot of money to waste for really silly things like sneaking through the forest and looking like idiots.
The band has released the following update: "After a successful world tour with more than 100 concerts all over the globe in support of their latest release Tinnitus Sanctus in 2008, Edguy have entered the studio to record a new album.
Still under the influence of their arena tour as special guests of Scorpions and the latest Avantasia world tour (featuring Tobias Sammet and Felix Bohnke), Edguy feel it's about time to squeeze their energy on tape in a recording studio again. This time the band has chosen the famous Peppermint-Park in Hannover (Scorpions, Phil Collins), according to the band " a recording temple with a tremendously great sounding room".

Edguy have just revealed the album cover for their forthcoming new studio album "Tinnitus Sanctus" which will be released worldwide on November 14th.
Last Saturday the record company invited the press to the studio where the album was played to several European journalists who were all really impressed with the fresh and heavy sound. More than one journalist came up with the memorable remark that the album will underline Edguy's status of having become Germany's leading Hard'n'Heavy band, setting off to new horizons, featuring typical trademarks without repeating themselves. This album is a statement of innovation and credibility and as Tobias has put it, "A vitamin shot in the arm of a boring and predictable genre!"
Edguy have entered the Gate Studios in Wolfsburg to record the follow-up of their chart breaker album "Rocket Ride". The new album will be produced by Sascha Paeth and is scheduled to be released in November 2008. The album will be entitled "Tinnitus Sanctus".
Tobias Sammet has got the following news in store: "The title just refers to the wall of sound that will bulldoze you. Let's be modest: We have ten extraordinary songs and this new album is gonna be our ticket to the hall of fame alongside with Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and AC/DC. There won't be a hit-single this time, not even a flop-single, haha; not only because most songs are too long for a single, but also because for a single we had to produce way more stuff, lose money and need a time frame to release it. The album would come later then and that would suck. For the record: Musically, we don't go back to the roots. It's not the "Legacy of Mandrake part 2" and it's not a little brother of Rocket Ride either. It's a new album and we've set off to new horizons once more! The stuff sounds really broad, very anthemic, heavy and ballsy. We've kept our trademarks and still there are a lot of elements that are different to anything we've done before. I know what some fans may think, because if my favourite bands would have come up with statements like that I would have been scared to death, but in our case I am sure this could be the album we'll be measured by in the future."
Edguy are currently preparing to hit the studio to work on the successor of their recent album "Rocket Ride".
Vocalist Tobias Sammet has posted the following update:
"People think that we are quite fast but that's not the truth. I completed the Avantasia album last autumn, the Avantasia songwriting itself was completed even way back in 2006. All the new ideas I've had since then could be taken for Edguy. In fact, this is a long time to refresh your creativity and gather new stuff. The material sounds very fresh, it embraces all the different trademarks of Edguy, I think it is a logical continuation of Rocket Ride and Hellfire Club. Maybe it doesn't come across as goofy as Rocket Ride, but I am sure if we have fun in the studio we'll have enough possibilities to ruin the day for notoriously bitter people, haha. Yet it's more bombastic and heavier, not too fast cause I really don't like pure Speed Metal that much anymore. I like Lavatory Love Machine, The Piper Never Dies, Mandrake and Sacrifice. There's three fast tracks, but they are all good, not 'just fast'! We'll enter the studio next week and work whenever producer Sascha Paeth and me come back from the Avantasia weekends."
The German melodic metallers of Edguy have posted the following statement in their official site:
"Due to big technical problems Edguy had to cancel the show in Hartford . Most of the technical devices and instruments were not delivered as agreed on prior to the tour. Edguy apologizes for this and are working to fix all problems so they can play the tour as planned. Edguy is not responsible for this, as there was no chance to even do a 30% show.
The Rocket Ride world tour is going on. On September 12th Edguy will start their North American coast-to-coast tour in W. Springfield, Virginia. Check the tour dates to make sure you you won't miss the guys during their 20 shows in the USA and Canada. Furthermore Edguy will return to Brazil for one show, the Greenpeace Manifesto Festival at Via Funchal on the 11th of November. In Europe, Edguy have just been confirmed to co-headline the Bulgarian issue of the Nuclear Blast festial at the "Winter Palace of Sports" on November 3rd. Last but not least Edguy will be special guest to play a 45 minutes mini-set during the Nuclear Blast festival in Stuttgart on October 27th at the Schleyerhalle in Stuttgart."
The following updates were posted on the website of German Power Metal band Edguy:
"Due to an overwhelming response to their maiden tour of North America in 2005 with Hammerfall, Germany's beloved Edguy are bringing their "Rocket Ride World Tour" to the western hemisphere in support of their 2006 release of the same name, which climbed to the #27 slot on Billboard's Hard Music Chart. The tour will launch on Tuesday, September 11th in Hartford, Connecticut and will include Canada's Into Eternity, Norway's Susperia, plus a special guest. . On June 16th, the band will be back in Slovakia as special guest of the Scorpions in Bratislava. Edguy will also be this year's Saturday headliner at Germany's prestigious Bang Your Head!!! Festival on June 23rd, and are also confirmed for France's Hellfest on the 24th of July. All tour dates can be seen in the Tour Section of their website.
