Eidolon - No New Records For Quite Some Time

After the release of Eidolon's upcoming album "The Parallel Otherworld", Glen and Shawn Drover will take a break from Eidolon to concentrate on Megadeth.

Shawn Drover posted the following on the official website:

"At this time, we are in the process of getting the remaining tracks recorded for the Eidolon record - Nils has just finished the vocal tracks 100% today, so we should be receiving them at the studio in Toronto in a few weeks, after editing is done in Norway. Adrian has 2 bass tracks yet to complete, which I believe will happen within 1 week - Glen has all of his guitar solos to record, which is normal procedure for us, as he likes to do his solos last. With this said, we are looking at mixing/mastering this record starting January 1st-9th. Once the record is finished, we ship it off to Escapi - I cannot reveal the release date, as I have no idea when it will be released. Sometime in 2006 is a safe bet, I assume.

Since this will be the last Eidolon record for some time ( our priority is with MEGADETH ) we really wanted to have some musicians that we admire to play on certain tracks - As I write this, we have Hank Sherman/Michael Denner ( Mercyful Fate/Force of evil ) playing on "The Oath " which, by the way, sounds amazing!!!! Glen sent me a file of the song, via Whale Mail and it just put a big smile on my face. Glen handled the keyboard intro to the song ( we originally thought of using somebody else to record it, but nixed the idea ) it all sounds great - enough said on that.

As well, we have Michael Romeo ( Symphony X ) doing a trade off solo with Glen on another track, and we just confirmed Kim Mitchell ( Max Webster, Kim Mitchell band ) for a trade off solo with Glen as well. I cannot express how happy I am to have Kim perform on our record, as we have been huge fans of his playing, as well as Michael Romeo - we became good friends with him during Gigantour, so this was a no-brainer, really.

The 1 thing I will always be proud of with Eidolon, after 10 years now, is that we always did what we wanted to do, 100%, and never catered to whatever trend was happening at the time. We always made music to make US happy 1st - the fact that others like us is just icing on the cake!!! We never sold 1,000,000 record or anything like that, but we never cared about that anyways. Music was, is and will always be the #1 priority with Glen and myself."

Eidolon - Update From The Studio

The following message by Glen Drover was posted in the Eidolon's official website:

"Hello all!!

Here is an update to let you know where we stand with the progress of recording the new Eidolon album "The Parallel Otherworld"

All that is left now are 2 bass tracks, my solos and Nils vocals, which we will have in our hands in about 3 weeks time.

This will also be the first time that we mix and Master the album in my studio, with the help of my great Pro Tools teacher, Tony Crea. Learning all these different things in Pro Tools is so cool, as it really opens the doors to many more possibilities in recording. through the process of doing this new album, right up to the completion, i will have really good handle on what i need to do for all the different stages of recording in the future!

anyway, my next post will be when the album is 100% complete!

till then, take care."

Eidolon - Progress Of The Upcoming Album

The band posted the following update concerning the recording of the new album and other issues:

"Hey there!

Just a little update to let you know that i am about half way through the recording of my guitar tracks for the new album and (aside from a few computer problems that will be fixed this weekend) things are sounding great!

Adrian will start his first 3 bass tracks this coming thursday (may 5th, Shawn's b-day!) which im sure will sound awesome, as we are using a couple new pieces of gear for this recording which are very cool! speaking of which, i have some more new toys (man, it's like xmas every day around here lately. WOOOOO HOOOOO!!!!) for the studio, which i will use for some of my recordings along the way.

I will be leaving for the European Festival tour with Megadeth at the beginning of june, so i must finish all of the bass tracks and main guitar tracks before the end of the month, at which point i will send all the files to Nils in norway for vocals.

As i have mentioned before, i'm Really not sure when the album will be complete. we are looking at the beginning of 2006.
talk soon.

Glen"

Eidolon - Update

Here is a message take it from their official website:

"Well, I have returned, safely from Gothenburg, Sweden, where I completed all drum tracks at "Los Angered Recording" with Mr. Andy Laroque at the healm, as it were. all went very well and without problems, which is always a bonus, really. I really enjoyed my stay in Sweden - Andy really took care of me while in Gothenburg, showing me the sights, etc. All around, a very good trip - I certainly could see going back at some point, for future recording-related possibilities.

Nils dropped by the 2nd day of recording, which was nice to see him of course - at that point, the actual recordings were just commencing, so he was not able to catch much musically, but he could tell that there was a good vibe going on in the studio, so I believe that put him at ease. As I write this, Andy is working on finishing up the drum-editing, which should be completed by weeks end. I can assure you that this is the "busiest" I have played on an Eidolon record, mostly due to playing on a "real drum kit " ( I have used the roland v's for most of the records ) so it was certainly nice to get back to playing an acoustic kit in the studio!!

At this point, I belive Glen will commence guitar tracks upon the completion of the 1st leg of the Megadeth tour, which ends at the end of November. He should begin in December sometime, if all goes well. This is our most important record thus far, so we're not forcing any time-line - the music will speak for itself, believe me!!!!!!! Thats it for now, freaks - I will talk to you soon..."

Eidolon working on new record

Take it from eidolon website:

"Lots of great, possitive things happening here. So, lets get right to it!!!!

I will be leaving for Gothenburg, Sweden on September 30, to commence drum tracks for the next Eidolon record. I actually, just returned from Toronto, Canada - where myself and Glen programmed click tracks/scratch guitars for my Sweden trip - All went well. The drums will be recorded at "Los Angered Recording" owned by Andy Larocque ( King Diamond ) I am quite looking forword to this trip - I havent seen Andy in a while, so I'm looking forword to that as well.

Nils K. Rue ( vocalist ) will be stopping by the studio from Norway for a few days, which I am looking forword to as well - between Nils and Andy, I should have no problems finding the good coffee shops around town ( man, I hope they have Starbucks - wishfull thinking, perhaps :-)

Glen should be starting guitar tracks around the beginning of December, and will hopefully complete them sometime in early January - 2005. At this point, both Nils and Adrian will receive the record, at which time they can commence on their part of it. We are looking to deliver the record to Escapi by the end of April-2005, if all goes well. I can promise you that this is the best material we have written!!!!

As you probably are aware of at this point, Glen is the new guitar player in Megadeth!! I don't really want to talk too much about this, as it is really not my place to do so ( I will leave that up to Dave Mustaine :-) All of us are excited for Glen, and know that he will do a great job in the band!!!!

That's about all for the time being - I will get back to you upon my return from Sweden..."

Eidolon: Change singer, Pagan's Mind singer joins

Toronto, Canada's EIDOLON have parted ways with their singer, Pat Mulock, "for reasons of both a musical and personal nature," according to an official press release. "I express no interest in giving any childish, gory details or go into any specifics as to why we have decided to take this path," said drummer Shawn Drover. "It simply wasn't working for us anymore on a musical level mostly, so in all fairness to the band, a change is necessary at this point in time - we do wish Pat luck on his future musical endeavors.

With regards to the task of replacing Pat, Shawn says, "Once again we are left with the arduous position of trying to find a new 'family' member, as it were - a task (and I think I speak for Glen and Adrian here as well) that we are not fond of. At this juncture of the game, finding the 'right guy for the job' who expresses the same musical goals as well as sharing the same outlook on this retarded business and NOT be delusional about it is not an easy thing - we certainly don't do this for money - if we did, we certainly are playing the wrong type of music!!! We do this for completely selfish reasons, which to me, is the ONLY reason to play music - to express ourselves in a genuine fashion and not bow to any pathetic trends - in the end, we do this for ourselves first and hope to expand our fan base with each release.

"As well, the 'right' vocalist has to be great in all facets - melodic, wide range of vocal styles, great frontman and one who can rip your face off in a live setting - in other words, a complete pro!!!!!! Unfortunately, this type of vocalist does not grow on trees here in North America. Europe however, is a different story, so we decided to try a different approach in finding who we were looking for.......

"It didn't take too long to figure out who we wanted to fill this position. Since late December, Glen and myself have been working on a record called 'Dimension Infinte' which also features 3 members of a band called PAGANS MIND, who, in my opinion, are a fantastic metal-progish style band from Norway (great guys as well, actually) their singer - Nils.K.Rue is lending his talents for this record, in which he, Ronni and Steinar (bass and keyboards, respectively) are currently working on as I write this. After seeing PAGANS MIND last fall at 'Progpower' festival, I was blown away on how great of a live performer Nils was - something that now has played a part on us approaching him to become the new singer for EIDOLON. In my opinion, Nils has all the elements of we want in a great singer, so after contacting him and offering him the 'job', I am happy to say that Nils.K.Rue is now the new vocalist for EIDOLON!!!!!!
