It has been a while since we had some news about Saturnus. The Danish death/doom metal band has recently released a short update regarding new album details after they signed with Cyclone Empire last year.
Cyclone Empire Records has announced the signing of Denmark's Saturnus. The band's new album will be released in spring, 2012. Saturnus made some necessary changes to their lineup in 2009 and started to seriously concentrate on rebuilding the bands inner structure which in turn led to them recording a demo of some new songs which was then sent to various labels. The band were back on the road towards recording and releasing a new album and in bringing the bands sound back to their loyal fans.
Danish melodic doom metal band Saturnus have recently parted ways with Firebox Records and are currently seeking a new label home. The band has also added two new members, namely Henrik Glass on drums and Mattias Svensson as the band's new rhythm guitarist.
Vocalist Thomas A.G. Jensen commented as follows: "Saturnus has been through a major transition due to a necessary line-up change arising from different views on how things needed to be run. This put the brakes on the bands progression for so long that eventually something had to break or otherwise we would inevitably have split up. We love playing live whenever we can and right now we want to do it more than ever to follow on and raise our profile once again to echo the success of our last album, Veronica Decides To Die, and previous efforts.
According to an update posted on Saturnus' official MySpace page, the band will re-release their first three albums in July. Here is the full update from the band:
"Our former label Euphonious Records/VME will re-release the first three Saturnus releases internationally on July 26. The releases have been sold out for a while, but will now be available again in new versions. The re-releases are out in Denmark already, and are available at most record stores, as well as online. We will keep you posted on where to get it from international mailorders soon."
Re-release details:
Paradise Belongs To You - 2CD: comes in digipack with all of the legendary Roskilde Festival 1997 CD as a bonus CD.
Danish doom metallers Saturnus have issued the following update:
"Dear all, we think that now is the time to let you in on what is currently going on in camp Saturnus...
As you might know we went through a substantial "re-grouping" last year. Thomas and Brian are of course still in the band handling vocals and bass while lead guitarist Rune Stiassny, who already participated in two European tours, also is a full-blooded member of Saturnus. We are looking forward to present our drummer and a rhythm guitarist as well when the time comes.
While we are humble towards the achievements of the past we are at the same time confident that we are able to carry on the flame and create a new Saturnus album. When exactly a new album will see the light of day we can't say for sure. But what we can say is that we are currently in the process of writing new songs and that we will do some pre-recording for our album this spring.
Danish metallers Saturnus have issued the following update:
Saturnus is currently working on new tracks with a line-up consisting of new and old members of the band. For various reasons Anders Ro Nielsen , Tais Pedersen , Peter Poulsen and Nikolaj Borg have left the band.
Saturnus now consists of the founding members: Thomas A.G. Nielsen and Brian Hansen . Guitarist Rune Stiassny which supported us at "The Ethereal Sessions Tour" in 2008 is now a member of Saturnus.
Future members and concert dates will be announced soon.
www.saturnus.dk is no longer the official Saturnus homepage. www.myspace.com/saturnus is until otherwise announced the place to get the Saturnus news."

No reasons were disclosed for the departure, but according to the band there were no hard feelings involved and they wish him best of luck with his music in the future.
In other news, ex-bass player Brian Pomy Hansen with whom the band has recorded "Paradise Belongs To You", "For The Loveless Lonely Nights" and "Martyre" has rejoined the band.
