17:23 - psykometal it's many colonies and ex-colonies, it's usage is also frequently used in the exact way I used it. So I'll just go ahead and stick with "cunts" as my expletive noun there. ;)
17:21 - psykometal LOG, in most of the English speaking countries cunt is not a positive thing. In America it's viewed as such a terrible word that it might as well have been stricken from our vocabulary because nobody uses it. And in Britain, and
17:04 - Hellcult There is something 'fresh' in this song - Carnifex "Drown Me In Blood"
16:28 - Andreas I call fellow christians who are against metal "non-believer"
16:06 - Nikpe and what about Dark Tranquillity tour in november in USA? Did no one is waiting for concerts?
16:00 - Overrwatcher Seems like it depends on the European country. The more conservative (like Russia) the more it's frowned upon. Metal is unpopular in America outside of nu/alt/NWOAHM/Metallica but that's often a good stepping stone.
15:56 - VIG i know i live in america too, it sucks being a metalhead here too
Having completed The Nameless Tour to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of their debut album, The Nameless Disease, it would appear that The Old Dead Tree have something in store for their fans! Recently, the band revealed that they have written and recorded 5 brand new tracks to be accompanied by a DVD, both set for a tentative release this year.
French metallers The Old Dead Tree are reuniting this year to mark the 10th anniversary of their iconic debut full-length, The Nameless Disease and to celebrate that, the band will perform the album in its entirety at Hellfest this June and is currently booking a French tour. But there is more in store for the band. Sold-out for a couple years and now hard to find on CD, The Nameless Disease has been made available again digitally, in a special 10th Anniversary Edition with brand new cover artwork and no less than seven bonus demo tracks.
After parting ways with The Old Dead Tree in 2006, guitarist Nicolas Chevrollier said: "I will always love playing, listening to, and living music..." As guitarist and songwriter having highly contributed to the artistic orientation of the band, he rapidly felt the needs to pursue his own dreams again with a new project.
He naturally found that his long-time friend and bass player Vincent Danhier could share his vision. Things became more serious after the split-up of The Old Dead Tree in November last year, and the duo knew they would need a fuller line-up to move the band up and forward. So Olivier (also involved in thrash metal act Sinn) was rapidly enlisted to their ranks as drummer. Then they asked guitarist Gilles (now also responsible for death core riffing with Jarell) to bring his talent, as his playing style is a perfect match. When it came down to finding a vocalist, the name of Guillaume popped up. The band knew that his skills in singing with Dustbowl (heavy cold rock) were what the new composings screamed for... Luckily, he agreed to join, and Pretence has found its final form in February, 2010.
We are sorry to announce French goth metallers The Old Dead Tree decided to call it quits. Here is frontman Manuel's official statement:
"The Old Dead Tree is no more.
I wish I never had to write those words, but nothing is forever. These last few months, some disagreements started to grow within the band, regarding commitment and musical direction in the making of our fourth album. Those differences of opinions soon turned out to be a dead-end problem and led me to make the decision of ending the band's activities.
In twelve years of existence, The Old Dead Tree had its share of line-up changes. Of course, each of them has been an improvement, but they were also painful losses. And I do not want to face that kind of loss again. Be that as it may, I am still extremely proud of the work we have achieved and I want to thank all the people without whom nothing would have been possible: past and present band members with whom I learnt so much and had amazing times, our wonderful crew, our label Season of Mist, our tour booker K Productions, and especially the fans who supported us and encouraged us to go forwards. I wish them all the best in their future endeavours. This is now farewell."
According to a short post on the band's website, the bandmembers have started writing for what is supposed to be the next album of The Old Dead Tree.
Hopefully to be recorded sometime in the winter of 2009… More information to come soon !
The Old Dead Tree have announced the following news:
"The search is over, and a new drummer has now joined the band. The level of competition and skills among the few drummers who remained at the top of the crop was extremely high, but this guy logically outplayed everyone in the end.
Indeed, we are very happy to announce that after having worked with us as a session musician for about six months now, Raphaël has decided to join The Old Dead Tree as a full time member! For those who aren't familiar with him yet, Raphaël is the drummer of the french symphonic metal band Penumbra. As a professional musician, he is also involved in others projects and various music styles. If you want to find out more about Raphaël, you can check his MySpace.
Foued Moukid has stepped down from his drums wielding duties after 3 years in The Old Dead Tree. Foued has decided to devote himself to his other band Arkan in "full-time" mode, and also to others personal private projects.
"We had been working in this band together for almost 3 years and we shared some unforgettable experiences together all over Europe. We will obviously remain friends and this "break up" has been on very good terms from both sides. We would like to thank our friend and wish him the best of luck with his future ventures!"
Please note that all gigs scheduled - except Portugal - are still confirmed! A session drummer - Raphaël Antheaume- will replace Foued until his successor has been found.
A brand new The Old Dead Tree track entitled 'Dive', has been posted online at this location. The song comes off the Parisian goth metallers' new album "The Water Fields" due on September 17 via Season of Mist. The CD was recorded at Stage One Studio in Germany with producer Andy Classen.
Parisian goth metallers The Old Dead Tree have returned from Stage One Studio in Germany, where producer Andy Classen recently finished recording, mixing and mastering the band's latest opus, "The Water Fields" which will be released on September 17 via Season of Mist.
"The band went further again, reaching a new stage in terms of songwriting and maturity. This album is much heavier and darker, but also more diverse and full of sheer emotion! Even the production of Andy Classen outdoes the job on our previous material", vocalist/guitarist Manuel states.
"The Water Fields" tracklisting:
01. Start The Fire
02. Don't Wake Me Up (Those Who Never Wear White)
The following message was posted on The Old Dead Tree's official website:
"We can confirm that the title of The Old Dead Tree's new Album will be "The Water Fields". Full tracklisting will be revealed soon as well.
"The Water Fields" - an imaginary place where one finds refuge to escape from pain and everyday doubts... This will be a concept album about avoidance, kidding oneself, and the urge we have to hide from reality and to remain passive when we are on tenterhooks..."
The band is currently in the Stage One Studio, recording the new songs together with german producer Andy Classen! They will try to keep you informed about the whole recording/mixing/mastering process through their official website, forum and MySpace.
Plucked from the official Seasons Of Mist Newsletter:
"French Goth Metal act The Old Dead Tree will soon enter the Stage One Studio in Germany, to record their forthcoming album. The recording sessions will start on next June 3rd and last three weeks. Once again, the band decided to give trust to producer Andy "Master" Classen.
The band describes the new material as "a twisted and schizophrenic blend of evocative riffs and arrangements put together with an overload of sheer emotion. The new songs do widen the previous artistic borders without disavowing the typical musical identity of the band".
The Old Dead Tree's yet to be named third album is tentatively due for a worldwide release in autumn 2007, on Season of Mist. We will get you more details as soon as possible..."
French Gothic Metal band The Old Dead Tree have now gotten a replacement guitarist for Nicolas Chevrollier who left the band in May so he could take care of his family and newborn son. The band are happy to announce Gilles Moinet as new The Old Dead Tree guitarist. Gilles will make his on stage debut for The Old Dead Tree when the band play live on the 23rd September in Geneva (CH). He will then play in Lyon (FR) the next day.
Here is a comment by frontman Manuel Munoz: "Gilles has a deep sense of melody and brings the band new influences that foretell an even richer and more varied music than before. His will to come forward and his involvement in The Old Dead Tree give us the highest hopes regarding our forthcoming third album".
Because of Nicolas Chevrollier's decision to leave the band, The Old Dead Tree is now looking for a new guitar player. If you are interested, please write to firstname.lastname@example.org with details about yourself, like your musical influences, bands you are/were involved in, live and studio experiences, etc, and of course the reason why you would like to join the band. All information about the auditions will be given in due time once The Old Dead Tree has received your e-mail and details. Thanks and good luck!
During tonight's emotional show in Paris at the Locomotive, Nicolas Chevrollier (guitars) announced that he had to leave the band in order to take care of his family and of his son, who will be born in July.
The band will probably be looking for a replacement soon.
We wish Nicolas Chevrollier some great time with his family and good luck for the future and his new life.
