Visual-kei survivors Dir En Grey resurfaced last week with a new live DVD and Blu-ray, Dum Spiro Spero At Nippon Budokan. Filmed over two nights back in March, the double-disc set contains both concerts in full. The limited edition also boasts assorted extras and behind-the-scenes footage, plus a bonus CD featuring alternate versions of most songs from 2011's Dum Spiro Spero.
Detroit black metal monsters Dauden I Mørke have released the tracklist for their upcoming EP, Coldwired, that they have been working on. The EP will consist of a handful of old Dauden I Mørke favorites and covers of various artists reworked through the artistic lens of their 2014 album Cold Miasmic Domain, which came out on January 12th of this year.
AfterBlood, the groove death metal band hailing from Greece, recently released their first video clip for the song "Before Time Runs Out" from their debut album Of Unsound Minds. This video is entirely "home-made" by the band's singer Hel Pyre and by John Mitsakos, as it was made with only a photo camera, DIY lighting and some green cloth for keying background, and a lack of any previous experience in this field.
Roadburn 2015 is officially taking off. Enslaved guitarist Ivar Bjørnson has been announced as one of the curators of Roadburn Festival 2015 alongside Wardruna's Einar Kvitrafn Selvik. As curators, both Ivar and Einar will personally select the bands for their curated Roadburn event, named Houses of the Holistic, and play special shows with Enslaved and Wardruna respectively as well.
Xanthochroid recently announced that they have started recording new material. In a post from July 20th, they say "Holy shit we officially start recording tomorrow!" so clearly they are excited. The group also posted a picture of the drum kit in the studio. No news on a release date but the band's new album Of Erthe & Axen will drop via Blood Music which is also working behind-the-scenes on mastering Blessed He With Boils and Incultus for vinyl.
Seemingly out of nowhere, Canadian progressive death metallers Beyond Creation just debuted a new song. The last time we heard of the band, they were working on their new album. Ozzy Osbourne just announced the release of Memoirs Of A Madman. It is not a new album but an audio and video collections that celebrates the legacy of Ozzy Osbourne. The single CD, two DVD set, 180g double vinyl and limited edition picture disc vinyl is due out on October 7th of Epic Records/Legacy Recordings. US metallers Dissona have announced via their Facebook page that they were invited by Leprous to join them for a show at Reggie's in Chicago. In the same post, they also announced that they were still working on new material and plan on premiering two new songs at their next several shows. Dissona have been working on material since late 2013 and it seems to be a slow moving process. We'll have to wait and see if 2014 will provide us with a new album, or if their heavy volume of shows will push the writing process into next year.
Due to a torn rotator cuff, Corrosion Of Conformity drummer Reed Mullin has been forced to sit out the band's upcoming live dates. Drummer Eric Hernandez (formerly of Kylesa) will perform with the band and replace Mullin while he recovers. The stoner metal trio is currently leveling the stages of New Zealand and Australia which will be followed by a two-week North American run scheduled to commence in Spokane.
Good news from the Far East: prolific Japanese power metal titans Galneryus have recently announced they'll be putting out a new studio album this coming September. The band's new studio effort, Vetelgyus, will be their first release of new material since 2012's Angel Of Salvation, and follows the live album and DVD Reliving The Ironhearted Flag, released back in March.

This past Sunday, Rob Zombie was forced to cancel their set at RockFest in Cabott, Wisconsin, due to the frontman losing his voice. He stopped singing during their second song of the set and left the stage. Today, Rob Zombie released a statement apologizing to fans for what happened. Rob says this was not something he did lightly and hopes these words may go some way to state why he had to stop the show early.
Italy's Lacuna Coil announced their first European headlining tour in support of the band's latest new album Broken Crown Halo, released in March, 2014. Joining the band on all dates will be Americans Motionless In White (who are debuting their new album Reincarnate in Europe), and Devilment - the new horror metal project from Cradle Of Filth's frontman Dani Filth.
