Grindcore/death metal legends Carcass have signed a deal with Nuclear Blast Records for the world excluding Japan for the release of Surgical Steel, the band's first studio release since their 1996 album Swansong. The band had announced they had conversations with a few labels and now the decision has been made. Better luck next time, all other labels.
After revealing the details of their new album, Mercenary today premiere the first song and title track of the album, "Through Our Darkest Days" as a taste of what's to come. Last year, Metallica confirmed that a 3D movie was in the works for release in 2013. At the beginning of this year, the band revealed more and confirmed that the movie would be titled Metallica Through The Never. Now the band has released the official theatrical trailer of the movie and you can have the first taste of Metallica Through The Neverhere. It will be shown on IMAX theatres in North America on September 27th and will roll into additional theatres in full 3D one week later on October 4th.
Hour Of Penance will embark on a European tour this fall alongside Australian tech-death act Psycroptic and UK death metal outfit Dyscarnate. Prior to the tour, which kicks off in Belgium on September 20th, the band will be seen appearing at several of the summer's international festivals. All upcoming dates are listed below. Sanctuary also begun work on a new album 20 plus years after Refuge Denied (1987) and Into The Mirror Black (1990). To complete the line-up, Brad Hull (Forced Entry) will be filling in for former guitar player Sean Blosl. A late 2013 release is planned for the new album The Year The Sun Died.
Swedes Månegarm have finally released a full brand new song from Legions Of The North, their upcoming album. The viking/black metallers chose the title track "Legions Of The North". Recently, heavy metal gods Judas Priest announced the release of their upcoming Epitaph Blu-ray and DVD and released a trailer teasing it. Now they shared professionally filmed video footage of Judas Priest performing the song "Turbo Lover" (from the album Turbo) at the Hammersmith Apollo in London, England in May 2012 which can be seen below.

Exciting news arrive from the Red Fang camp. The stoner band will return this fall with their as-yet-untitled third studio album which follows Murder The Mountains. The Portland-based group is currently in the studio finishing the album with the producer Chris Funk (Decemberists) and mixer Vance Powell (White Stripes, Raconteurs, Kings Of Leon). This same team worked on Red Fang's last album also released via Relapse Records.
