Maybe you didn't think it would happen, but indeed a new Coroner album is in the works to be released in 2017! Two years ago, the Swiss technical thrashers announced new drummer Diego Rapacchietti and now the comeback of the year is happening. Coroner - in the current line-up of Tommy Vetterli (guitar), Diego Rapacchietti (drums) and Ron Broder (bass/vocals) - are back in the studio! This three-man band made a name for itself in the music scene with its discerning brand of technical thrash metal. Now, 23 long years after the band's last album release (Grin, 1993), Coroner has announced plans to release a new studio album with Sony Music and Century Media Records.
The French duo Alcest will release their new and fifth album Kodama on September 30th, 2016 via Prophecy Productions, it was just announced. The band has also revealed the album's cover artwork and song titles. "Kodama" is the Japanese word for both "tree spirit" and "echo". The artwork has been done by the French duo Førtifem. Guns N' Roses' North American tour has been eventful. More than thirty people were arrested on Saturday night (July 23rd) at the band's concert at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Investigators say 30-year-old Kimberly Goodman was charged with aggravated assault against two state troopers, who received minor injuries. State troopers say there were also arrests for solicitation without a permit, disorderly persons, criminal trespassing, simple assault, drug offenses, resisting arrests, open lewdness and harassment. American black metal underground maniacs Demoncy just lost one of their guitar blasphemers, Clayton Charles Vargo, who was known by his nickname Grymoreth. No details were disclosed regarding his death.
Stoner/doom metal purveyors Monolord are about to release a 10" EP and have now shared one of the tracks from it. Swedish power metal warriors Sabaton just announced that one brother-in-arms will leave the band. Thobbe Englund has decided to depart. Thobbe will do some more shows during the summer and play his final gig with Sabaton in their hometown Falun, on their own festival Sabaton Open Air, for the release party of the new album, The Last Stand. After that, a new guitar player will carry on the torch.
Back in 2014, British doomsters 40 Watt Sun announced plans for a new album. Wider Than The Sky has now been announced as the title of that new album. Asphyx have just reveled today the gruesome artwork of their upcoming record, Incoming Death. He is joined in the Finland-based group by drummer Aksu Hanttu (Entwine), bassist Kimmo Hiltunen (Lullacry) and guitarist Sami Leppikangas. Good news for fans of Greek melodic death metallers Aetherian! The band is no longer unsigned and has joined the Lifeforce Records family. This also means new releases for the band, specifically their upcoming debut album. In 2015, the band released their debut EP, Tales Of Our Times, and in April 2016 released its first video clip for their new single "The Rain". Aetherian are currently working on new songs for their upcoming debut album, set to be released on Lifeforce Records in the summer of 2017.

U.S. melodic death metallers The Absence have returned and just shared a brand new song! The group released their first new song in three years, "Septic Testament." The song is also the first to feature their two new guitarists, Joey Concepcion (Armageddon) and Taylor Nordberg (Ribspreader, Infernaeon).
