UK symphonic black metal band Bal-Sagoth has released a new update stating there are no concrete plans for a new album anytime soon. This information was offered up by the band's vocalist Byron "Lord" Roberts on the band's MySpace page: "Hail to all Bal-Sagoth fans! It's a question we get asked fairly frequently, so just to clarify the situation and eliminate any rumours before they spiral out of control, here is the current state of play regarding possible future Bal-Sagoth albums. Alas, contrary to what you might have heard, there are still currently no definite plans for a new Bal-Sagoth album."

Australian thrash metal veterans Mortal Sin have announced that they will be breaking up for the fourth time in their history, following their most recent reformation in 2004. A statement from guitarist Ryan Huthnance reads as follows: "It's time the rumours were laid to rest. Yes, Mortal Sin is finished. Due to changing personal circumstances, as well as priorities, Luke and Nathan have both decided that their time with the band is at an end. This decision was not made lightly, and was not a result of the actions and words made by other parties who would lead you to believe it was."

Swedish metallers Netherbird have issued the following statement about splitting with the band's drummer and bassist and working on a new EP: "Rumours about a line-up change has reached us through various sources so we thought it might be good to deliver the news ourselves rather than through the haze of whispers.
