Dutch Doom Days XIV just announced funeral doomsters Shape Of Despair as the headliner on Saturday for this year's festival. The band has a new album scheduled to be released this year through Season Of Mist. Their new opus will be titled Monotony Fields, it has just been revealed, and will be released on June 15th worldwide, and the 16th in North America. Let the anticipation begin...
It seems like the Legal Battles In The North over the Immortal's name/logo have ended without an agreement. The band's frontman Abbath has released a statement regarding the future of Immortal or rather the end. Essentially, Abbath will move on with a new band under his name and the name of Immortal, for the time being, will rest. Abbath will perform at Blastfest next year and already has announced a show in London this September as well.
Things have been quiet around Avantasia's camp. But now AFM Records is taking a trip down memory lane and the band's milestone albums The Metal Opera Part I and The Metal Opera Part II will be reissued as picture vinyls. April 17th will see the release of these albums for the first time ever as 180g double picture vinyl editions limited to 1000 units worldwide.
Today Skyforger release online the first song from their new album Senprūsija (which means Old Prussia). This song is called "Tagad vai nekad", or in English "Now Or Never". If you like what you hear, the album will be out on the 6th of April, 2015 via the band's own Thunderforge Records. Enjoy!
Finland's Amoral announced what they had been teasing the day before: singer Niko Kalliojärvi has returned to the band after a seven year absence. The progressive band is now a six-piece again. Kalliojärvi's return has been cooking up since last year, and he will be largely present on the band's 7th studio album, on which they are currently working on, with an early 2016 release planned.
Hungarian long-running heavy metal band Ossian is about to release a new album, Lélekerő, on the 13th of April 2015. You can hear the first song "Ahányszor látlak" on the YouTube player below as well as the official trailer to get a sense of what's to come. This is already the band's 20th album!

Weedeater have finally revealed all about their new album. Titled Goliathan, the record will be released on May 19th in North America via Season Of Mist. But you can already hear some new tunes. Sad news to report as former Death's bassist Scott Clendenin has passed away. He was a bassist in the seminal death metallers for a few years and also played in Chuck Schuldiner's other band Control Denied. Scott Clendenin had some health challenges in the last few years. He played on Death's The Sound Of Perseverance album, and recently participated in two Death To All live runs, in 2012 and 2013, including the highlight of his acoustic guitar in a poignant rendition of "Voice Of The Soul". Our condolences to his family and friends.
As you probably know by now, Whitesnake will return with The Purple Album, their first new studio album in four years. The hard rock icons will release the record in Europe on May 15th, the UK on May 18th and in North America on May 19th via Frontiers Music Srl. The album is a re-imagination of classic songs from David Coverdale's time as the lead singer for Deep Purple. If you were hoping for a new album from Indesinence, today there is good news! The death/doom metal unit is currently immersed in their new album recorded at Priory Studio. This will be the band's third album and follow-up to Vessels Of Light And Decay released in 2012. III will contain seven tracks, with a playing time of around 70 minutes. It is now scheduled to be mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege Studio. Artwork and further info will be shared over the coming weeks. Be patient.
