The newest studio album by Borknagar is completed and now set for a worldwide release through Century Media Records on January 22nd, 2016. Today the first details are out in the open. The album is entitled Winter Thrice and will be the 10th album by these Norwegian black metal purveyors. The album was mixed and mastered at Fascination Street Studio in Sweden by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Kreator, Paradise Lost, etc.), who already took care of mixing duties for their previous album Urd in 2012. Canadian prog rock legends Rush have revealed their first offering from the forthcoming R40 Live concert film — "Roll The Bones", a song from their fourteenth studio album Roll The Bones that was originally released in 1991. This "R40 Live" version of "Roll The Bones" was recorded in the band's hometown of Toronto on June 17th and June 19th during the sold-out shows at the Air Canada Centre on the "R40 Live" tour.
Enslaved guitarist/singer Ivar Bjørnson Peersen and drummer as well as Wardruna mainman Einar Selvik are finally taking their band Skuggsjá to the next level. The Norwegian band has just signed a deal with Season of Mist and these acclaimed musical masterminds will release their debut album in early 2016. Find out more about how this band came to be here. The Norwegians Sahg have announced important changes in their line-up, and welcomed guitarist Ole Walaunet (Grimfist, The Batallion, God Seed) and drummer Mads Lilletvedt (Byfrost) to the band. Furthermore, the wait will soon be over for the follow-up to Delusions Of Grandeur. There will be a new Sahg album out in the spring of 2016 on Indie Recordings. The new album will continue in the vein of its predecessor.

After announcing the first dates of their farewell tour for North America, Australia and New Zealand, heavy metal legends Black Sabbath have finally announced European tour dates as well. Black Sabbath's farewell tour begins on January 20th, 2016 and it promises to surpass all previous tours with their most mesmerizing production ever. The Euro tour includes some festival appearances as well. See the shows scheduled so far below where the U.K. is still not included for now.
Earlier this year, Devin Townsend played an incredible sold-out show at London's legendary Royal Albert Hall venue, bringing the story of Ziltoid to life on stage as well as playing tracks from across his back catalogue. This larger-than-life evening was captured on film and is set to be released on the 13th of November 2015. Shot on 15 high-definition cameras, it was directed by Paul M Green (Devin Townsend, Opeth, BB King, Steve Hackett) and features special guests such as Dominique Lenore Persi (Stolen Babies), Chris Jericho (world-famous wrestler and singer of US band Fozzy) and Jean Savoie, with video narration by Bill Courage, as well as 12 singers and actors as cast and choir. The wait is over for Caligula's Horse fans who want to hear something from their new offering, Bloom. The up-and-coming Aussie progressive/alternative metal band's new record is set for release on October 16th in Europe and October 30th in the U.S. on their new label InsideOutMusic. In advance of the album's release, the band has presented "Marigold", a 6-minute tune which you can enjoy fully below. While the reunion of the classic band line-up speculation continues almost every week, Guns N' Roses and Dead Daisies guitarist Richard Fortus recently suffered serious injuries after a motorcycle accident. He broke his shoulder blade, collar bone, six ribs, a toe, has a bruised lung, lacerated liver and a concussion but he will make a full recovery. Sadly for Dead Daisies fans, Richard Fortus will miss the band's upcoming tour dates in Australia and New Zealand due to the crash.
Japanese metallers Loudness will release a special 30th anniversary edition of their classic album Thunder In The East in Japan on November 25th in several different versions featuring bonus DVDs with live footage from their 1985 U.S. tour, among other things.
Heavy metallers Valient Thorr have joined forces with Napalm Records for the release of their seventh album. The group will be heading into the studio this November to begin recording their new album that will be released in the spring of 2016. Before Valient Thorr make their way to the studio, they are going to fly over to Europe for the Intergalactic Roadwarriors Tour with special guests Black Bone and Child. The successor to Our Own Masters is coming!
Legendary Norwegian black metal frontman Gaahl (ex-Gorgoroth, God Seed) is embarking on a new project. Today he has revealed his new band: Gaahls Wyrd. The band's debut show will be at Blekkmetal festival that takes place at the USF Verftet venue in Bergen, Norway on November 13-15. This band fronted by Gaahl will perform songs from his long career, including several Trelldom songs never performed live before! With him are some members from Trelldom and God Seed and this will to be their debut concert and a night to remember.
