Tickets are selling well so you can only be happy. We picked Samael, Leaves' Eyes and Virgin Black as support acts because we know the guys and this kind of musical combination offers something for everyone." The tour kicks off on ProgPower USA IX in Atlanta on September 26. All tour dates can be found here.
In November Amorphis will enter Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki to record a follow-up to their highly acclaimed "Eclipse" and "Silent Waters" albums. The band has received gold records for both albums in their native Finland. Esa reveals: "We have been working really hard on new material and the new record should be out sometime next spring. The new material will again be very epic."
Finnish metallers Amorphis have been confirmed as the second headliner of ProgPower USA IX. America's premiere metal festival returns to Center Stage in Atlanta on Sept 26 & 27.
"Amorphis may not fit the stereotypical profile, but they truly are a progressive giant in this scene. From their death metal roots to the current moody atmosphere, they have done it all. Any band that can survive for sixteen years by doing it their own way deserves to be a headliner" said promoter Glenn Harveston.

Finnish Heavy Metallers Amorphis have posted the following update by guitarist Esa Holopainen on their website on 28 February:
"It's national celebration day. Amorphis has finished new album recordings and also today is the day of Kalevala. With the help of old and wise Väinämöinen, skilled smith Ilmarinen, adventurer-warrior Lemminkäinen, Louhi; the female ruler of Pohjola and the tragic hero Kullervo Amorphis aheads to new dimensions with upcoming album.
We have put a lot of energy and emotion into this album and hopefully it will reflect to all you next August.
Amorphis check in with the following band news from guitarist Esa Holopainen:
"Dear all,
It's been a really hectic year in the Amorphis camp and at the same time one of the best ones in our career. We released Eclipse, the first album with Mr. Joutsen on vocals, in spring and all the response from album and shows has been great. We really find the mood which I honestly thought that we lost years back. Big thanks to Tomi and his inspiration to all of us. With Eclipse we opened new era in our career, and yes, we are still together with this lineup (Amorphis mark 7 or something...)
Anyway, to brief you a bit; we are currently composing new material for the next Amorphis album. No title or release date has been issued yet, but we'll enter the Sonic Pump Studios again at the beginning of January, 2007 with the same team as on the last session. Mr. Karmila will be mixing the tracks sometime in late February at Finnvox Studio. We'll keep you updated, and meanwhile, check our tou rdates; we are going to do shows whenever possible during making our new "kid" come alive.
'The Smoke', the second single from the Eclipse album, is scheduled for release in Finland on June 7th. Included on the CD is the video clip for 'House Of Sleep'. For international orders, you can visit the Nuclear Blast Online Shop here.
The artwork for the single can be seen here.
The band continues, "Two more Finnish festival dates have been added to the tour calendar: Raumanmeren Juhannus and Himos Festival."
Amorphis' tour schedule can be found at this location.

1. Two Moons
2. House Of Sleep
3. Leaves Scar
4. Born From Fire
5. Under A Soil And Black Stone
6. Perkele (The God Of Fire)
7. The Smoke
8. Same Flesh
9. Brother Moon
10. Empty Opening
Esa Holopainen commented: "We just had pre-listening session at Nuclear Blast office and feedback seem to be really positive. I quess we have to organize another session for finnish reporters but I'm not sure if we have enough money to cover their drinks. Finnish reporters are extremely thirsty. But still, more they drink, better they like the album! Way to go!"
Amorphis' leadman and the guitarist Esa Holopainen has posted following message in their website:
Dear All.
We've been rehearsing intensively past two months now and the songs start to get their final shape. There's still couple tracks which need to be rehearsed but basically the songs are ready and the band is more motivated than ever. Tomi Joutsen has brought so much new energy for us and the tour we did in US on March united us a a real Amorphis 2005. We were really happy to see how people welcomed Tomi as a new Amorphis singer, he was a "bit" nervous before the tour but the reaction and support we got helped him to make Amorphis sound like a never before.
So, the recordings will take place at 1st of July at Sonic Pump studios in Helsinki and takes time till somewhere in August. Mikko Karmila is starting the mixing at September 1st at Finnvox. Let's see if guys get their studio ready till the 1st of July as it still looks like a construction area. New Sonic Pump is going to
Nuclear Blast announced the return of the finnish band to the label:
Nuclear Blast is very proud to announce that Finnish rockers AMORPHIS are now officially signed to the label!
This is what guitar player Esa Holopainen states about the "home-coming":
" Last year was quite difficult for Amorphis, we went through another line-up change as we decided that it's better if Mr. Koskinen leaves the band. We had problems with trying to promote our "Far From The Sun" album as we were working with partners who rather enjoyed nice cappucinos than would actually work.
Anyway, finding a new vocalist was tough, it was more difficult than we actually would have imagined. We actually thought about doing instrumental album when one of Mr. Koivusaari's friend told about their singer Tomi who is really talented and would fit us. The day he came over we were all proved that Tomi Joutsen is next AMOPRHIS singer. We went through 'Against Widows', 'Alone' and few other songs including 'Sign From The North Side', which is from our debut album. This is the song we also do live again!
