DragonForce - Reveal New Singer

UK based metal heroes DragonForce have announced that their long search for a new vocalist is finally over.

After entries from thousands of hopefuls across the globe, the band welcomes 23 year old Marc Hudson to the band to fill the boots left by ZP Theart, who parted ways with the band in March of last year.

Says Marc: "I'm really excited about being a part of the DragonForce family. It's always been my dream to dedicate my life to making music. I'm going to bring all the power and emotion I can to the songs, and help make the killer new record the fans have been waiting for!"

Born in Oxford England, Marc was picked from the thousands of applications via a number of impressive video auditions and live performances, which left the rest of the band in no doubt that they'd found their man. Since the age of 16, Marc has been building his vocal skills gigging with bands in the UK underground scene, developing a powerful style with influences which include Bruce Dickinson, Michael Kiske and Sebastian Bach.

Says founding member and guitarist Herman Li: "After almost a year of searching around the globe, it's great to be able to finally tell our fans the good news. Marc's expressive and melodic vocals are sounding phenomenal on the new songs, adding another dimension to the DragonForce sound that I am sure all the fans will love."

The band has been working on a new album since early 2010, recording in various studios in California, London and the South of France. With Marc brought into the fold, the band is enjoying an injection of enthusiasm and hunger that sees DragonForce prepared to return more focused and determined than ever before.

"Everyone in the band is extremely excited about how the new material is shaping up." continues Herman. "We haven't felt this kind of energy in the band for a long time. We can't wait to unleash the next DragonForce album later this year."

The new album is expected to hit the shelves in September, with a full world tour to follow.

Sabaton - DragonForce Bassist Joins Tour

DragonForce bassist Frédéric Leclercq will play with Sabaton - but only for their World War Tour 2011.

Sabaton explain the situation as follows:
"Our old friend and companion from the band DragonForce will take over on guitars from Rikard during the upcoming World War Tour in Europe. This is since Rikard has decided to multiply himself and will have his first kid at this time. Of course its the highest wish of Sabaton to tour with all six members but this time Rikard wanted to pass and to ensure that the fans that come to these shows will get a good show we wanted to bring in a person with both great musical talent as well as a great stage act together with a chemistry that we know fits in Sabaton. We are sure that Frédéric is that person.

This is of course a temporary situation, Frédéric is still a full member of DragonForce and Rikard is still the guitar player of Sabaton.
For the American tour that starts in April Rikard will be on stage again, ready to rock and hopefully a bit richer in life."

DragonForce - To Release Live Album

Official Press Release

Dragonforce, the stellar musicians whose latest Ultra Beatdown album charted strongly all over the world, have announced the release of their first live album; titled Twilight Dementia and produced by longstanding DF collaborator Karl Groom along with band guitarists Herman Li & Sam Totman, this double live set is now confirmed for a September 13th 2010 release on Spinefarm Records and Roadrunner Records (US, Canada).

Featuring 13 tracks, including such pivotal numbers as "Fury Of The Storm", "Operation Ground And Pound", "My Spirit Will Go On", "Valley Of The Damned", "Heroes Of Our Time" & "Through The Fire And Flames", this exercise in soaring vocals & advanced guitar pyrotechnics was recorded across 19 UK shows, with the very best takes lovingly compiled and mixed by Groom, Totman & Li.

Says Herman: "For years, fans have been asking us to record a live album, but honestly, we never really had the time due to our worldwide touring commitments and studio album recording. However, due to the overwhelmingly positive feedback from fans on the "Ultra Beatdown World Tour", we decided to finally put some real thought into it. The idea was to record every single show from the last leg of the tour, so we could pick the best take of each song without needing to do any overdubs in the studio; keeping the whole thing "live" like all the classic live metal albums. These recordings really capture the raw sonic energy of a Dragonforce show in fine detail. It is so real that you can hear the noise of the crowd and experience the show as it was that night - you can even hear the guitar pedals being stepped on!"
