Gorgoroth - Complete Work On New Album

The ninth Gorgoroth album, "Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt", has now been completed. The album was recorded in Tomas Asklund's Monolith Studio, and features Infernus on guitars, Frank Watkins (Obituary) on bass, Pest on vocals and Tomas Asklund on drums. Since Infernus wrote all the music for the album and extensive rehearsals and a pre-recording had also been made before second guitarist Tormentor re-joined the band last year, it was decided that it would be more convenient for Infernus to record all the guitars on the album. The album is produced by Infernus and co-produced/engineered by Tomas Asklund. It will be mastered at Cutting Room Studios in Stockholm in July. It will be released in Europe by Regain Records on October 21st and in the US on November 11th.

"Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt" tentative tracklisting:

01. Introibo ad Alatare Satanas
02. Aneuthanasia
03. Building a Man
04. Prayer
05. Rebirth
06. Cleansing Fire
07. New Breed
08. Human Sacrifice
09. Satan-Prometheus

Gorgoroth - Issues Band Update

Norwegian black metallers Gorgoroth have posted the following update on their official site:

''After a two-year absence from the live arena, Gorgoroth will once again perform their Satanic rituals on stage on August 29, 2009. Gorgoroth will then headline the last night of the 10th anniversary Hole in the Sky Metal Festival in Bergen, Norway, with none other than US doom legends Pentagram as co-headliners! More info on the festival can be found at www.holeinthesky.no. This exclusive Gorgoroth concert will be held in tribute of the band's former drummer Erik "Grim" Brødreskift (1966-1999). The setlist will include classic songs from the legendary "Pentagram" album - not played live for 12 years - and perhaps also brand new material from the upcoming album, "Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt". If and when any other Gorgoroth live appearances this summer are confirmed, they will be made public here on the official website.''

''The recording of Gorgoroth's new studio album "Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt" is progressing according to schedule, with a tentative October 2009 release date. The album will be released by Regain Records.''

God Seed - Former Gorgoroth Members Choose New Name

Former Gorgoroth members Gaahl and King ov Hell have chosen the new banner of God Seed to represent their art.

Posted on the band's newly created myspace page:

"God Seed was chosen for many reasons; it represents the will to grow, the god within man and nature, and the will to reach one's highest potential. God Seed is also the title of a track from the last album released under the "Gorgoroth" banner and in that respect it symbolizes what is brought from the past into a new beginning and a new future.

The album which has been in the works as a "Gorgoroth" album will now be released as the first God Seed album and should be in-stores in late 2009.

King comments: "The past 18 months has been a struggle on many levels. Therefore I'm very excited about God Seed - even on a personal level. Hopefully this will lead to growth to me personally and for the band as a whole. It's time to use my energy on something that wants to live, rather than to use my energy on something that wants to die and be part of my past!!!"

More details on the upcoming album - line-up etc will be announced shortly."

Gorgoroth - Infernus Wins Trademark Case

The ongoing battle Infernus has been pursuing against Gaahl & King Ov Hell regarding trademark rights of the name "Gorgoroth" appear to have come to an end. A message posted on Infernus' myspace website reads as follows:

"Oslo City District Court has today delivered a verdict on the main question in the Gorgoroth trademark case, which took place at the end of January 2009. The court has decided that King ov Hell's trademark registration # 243365 of the band name Gorgoroth is NOT valid and shall therefore be deleted. The court states that King ov Hell and Gaahl excluded themselves from the band Gorgoroth when they tried to fire Infernus in October 2007. The court further states that Infernus cannot be excluded from Gorgoroth, unless he himself decides to quit. Infernus is very pleased, but not surprised, by this verdict. The remaining issues concerning financial matters and such are yet to be decided upon."

The Infernus Gorgoroth line-up is:

Infernus - guitar, bass, drums, vocals
Pest - vocals
Tormentor - guitar
Frank Watkins - bass
Tomas Asklund - drums

Gorgoroth - Hellhammer Joins Forces With King And Gaahl

The following message was posted on Gorgoroth's official website:

"Continuing on with the new agenda now forged for Gorgoroth, Gaahl and King have enlisted none other than Hellhammer (Mayhem) to join them on battery beginning in 2008.

Gaahl and King are creating a force which will only contain members of a strong and creative energy in honor of the art that is Gorgoroth and their renewed sense of destruction and war! Hellhammer possesses these ideals and he will add another dimension to this new and different beginning.

Please welcome Hellhammer to the battle!"

Gorgoroth - Internal Conflict, Tour To Still Go On

Last night Infernus, guitarist of Norwegian black metal band Gorgoroth gave reason to believe the band may be splitting up with the following update on the band's official MySpace site:

"I am writing to inform you about the fact that there has been taken a decision to split up the band, Infernus on one side, Gaahl and King on the other. We can not continue working together any longer. What is still not agreed upon is who rightfully get to keep the band's name, as it is both parts will to continue. Since this will be a question of legal affairs, I am afraid this might take time to get sorted out. I am sorry for that."

But we now know that whatever happens, the band's European tour will continue as planned, with an update to the band's official website this morning:

"Gaahl, King and Infernus have decided to part ways.
Gorgoroth have existed as a three-piece for the past several years but have ceased from this moment on in this incarnation.

Vocalist Gaahl (lyrics) and King (bassist/composer) will continue the scheduled European tour in November under the name Gorgoroth with a replacement for Infernus.
King and Gaahl will continue to work together musically, performing their art live and recording in the future. This decision was reached by Gaahl and King as they have been the driving force behind Gorgoroth's music for the past 8 years.

Infernus has stated he will take King and Gaahl to court over future use of the name Gorgoroth."
