Iron Maiden - Announce Show In Belgrade

Iron Maiden have confirmed that further to last weeks announcement of an additional show in Athens they will be playing a headline show in Belgrade on Wednesday March 14th 2007 as part of a short run of dates in mid March.

The venue is the 18,000 capacity Belgrade Fair Indoor Arena and tickets for the show will be going on sale on Wednesday 24th January.

Says Steve Harris "I'm pretty sure in saying that this will be the first time we've been to Belgrade for just over 20 years back on the Somewhere in Time tour so I'm sure many of our fans in Serbia will be very excited at the news that we're making this visit that some would say is long overdue! As we said a couple of years ago we would try and visit new places and cities where we haven't played for a long time when the opportunity to do so came up and this is just such an occasion. And we are very much looking forward to it"

Iron Maiden have confirmed that they will be playing a headline show in Athens on Sunday March 11th 2007 as part of a short run of dates in mid March which include Dubai Desert Rock Festival and two more shows soon to be announced on ironmaiden.com.

The venue is the 10,000 capacity Faliro Pavilion Indoor Arena in Athens and tickets for the show will be going on sale on Tuesday 16th January.

We were sadly unable to arrange a date in the first part of the tour so we are all very pleased to be now able to play in Athens and we expect to bring with us the full staging we have been using so far on this tour . The Greek audiences are amongst the craziest anywhere and we look forward very much to playing the show. And so of course does Eddie'

We will adjust the set to include more of the favourites these fans wont have heard live before along with selected tracks from our new album 'A Matter of Life and Death' which has been very successful in Arabia with a Top 5 Chart entry. As this tour has been so much fun we may even add a couple more special shows in mid-March..."

It certainly looks and sounds like a great festival and line up and I'm already planning a special BruceAir trip out for this one which will be amazing I'm sure."

Iron Maiden - The Annual Xmas Card Competition Launched

Iron Maiden have posted the following call-to-arms on their homepage:

"You folks know the drill by now...

The last few years we've thrown the design of the official Iron Maiden Xmas card open to you guys. This is the card that gets sent to FC members, to friends of the band... and to the last minute people we realise we've forgotten Each year, the standard has been amazingly high and we've had a real challenge agreeing on a winner.

So, we'd like you guys to do it again. Send us your designs - conforming to the specs below - and the winner will be picked by Rod, be printed and sent to loads of people. The winner will get a credit on the card and a big bag of groovy Iron Maiden stuff.

Your design needs to be A5 size (about 21 by 15 cm) - it's up to you which way round it goes (portrait or landscape). The picture is entirely up to you.

Now here's the important stuff - as the design will be printed, you need to make sure you have a high-resolution image that you can send us if we choose your card. If you're hand painting or drawing, no problem, but if you're creating your design from scratch in Photoshop or whatever, please make sure you do it at 600dpi and not at the lower resolution you'd use for things that are going to be displayed only on a monitor. Keep the original in a very safe place, and send us a copy."

Details of sending can be checked via Maiden's homepage.

Iron Maiden - New Album Conquers Europe

Maidenfans.com, issued the following status report on Iron Maiden's new album, 'A Matter Of Life And Death', which has been storming the charts the world over:

"As the week rolls, more charts positions are getting in. We already announced you that 'A Matter of Life and Death' was number 1 in Finland and in Italy. Well, it also reached the first spot in Germany. Great news considering the competition and knowing that Maiden's two previous albums reached #3 and #2. As already mentionned, the album reached #4 in the UK Charts after being #3 on the midweeks. A Maiden album is often frontloaded which partially explains this slip during the week. However, almost 45,000 have reportedly left the shelves! In neighbouring Ireland, the album is at #5. In Poland, it's at #6. In the Netherlands, it's 7th and finally, down-under in Australia, it settled on place 12."
