Kataklysm - European Tour Cancelled

Kataklysm has decided to cancel their upcoming European tour with Behemoth, scheduled for February. Singer Maurizio Iacono explains:

"First I'd like to say how crazy of a ride it's been since the release if ITAOD. we've done over 200 shows in less then two years, nine tours across the world and meeting all our fans was the highlight, they made our last album the biggest and strongest album to date. It's been great but the machine needs time off. Theres nothing more we like than to stay on the road nonstop but we have to come to reality here and see that we need to take a breather, recharge our batteries and come back stronger than ever with a brand new album, because we will have to redo all this all over again in no time. We didn't want to cancel the tour with Behemoth but after much thought it was the right decision. J-f has to keep working through January on the new album so he gets absolutely no break time, which isnt fair. Then we have to mix it and it's in February and we need to be here to supervise this new masterpiece we've created for you guys. "Prevail" is the priority for next year and it needs our full attention.

But don't worry, we have A LOT of plans ahead of us, and we will be back in no time at all. Also, this doesn't affect the New Zealand and Australian dates in late-March, those will go ahead as planned. Other than that the band is doing great. Steph will be rejoining us for the last four shows of this tour with Chimaira wich has been great. We got a couple more dates left. Check our Myspace or website and come check us out. These will be the last dates until the next record comes out. I'd like to wish everyoneout there some happy holidays with your loved ones."

Kataklysm - To Tour Europe With Behemoth Again

Canadian Death Metal devastators Kataklysm have posted the following news on the band's website:

"After sending shockwaves across Europe this last Sept/Oct, one of the most succesfull combination has joined forces once again. Kataklysm and Behemoth have joined forces for a quick European tour that will hit mainly the UK and Iberia (Spain/Portugal). The band will also introduce a new song from their upcoming album "Prevail" due out May 2008."

Comments frontman and singer Maurizio Iacono:

"We were planning on coming back to the UK in 2008, since the dates went so well there and the crowds were so killer. Then we found out our friends in Behemoth were gonna be there at the same time as well, so we decided to join forces. Last run was intense as fuck, both bands feeding off each other's live energy every night. This time it wont be any different. I salute Nergal and co. and wait for another killer run to arrive"

Behemoth commented:

"We have a very demanding schedule for next year and I advise you to sit tight and wait for some very exciting news coming early next year. There are some major plans in the works to create a perfect set up for our future activities. There's definitely going to be more touring next year. We'll be doing second European leg with Kataklysm and we'll visit all the markets we didn't make last time. We are also coming back to U.S. for another big tour around March. We'll be touring South America and possibly Japan (cross fingers!) in the Spring. From there on we should take a long break, doing only off shows and occasional festivals. Next year we're going to focus on the next DVD, EP and new album. We already have some sick ideas but its way to early to reveal any details yet. You just have to wait and be surprised!"

Kataklysm - To Tour Australia And New Zealand

Kataklysm is proud to announce its first ever Australian & New Zealand tour!!

Thursday March 20th: @ Valve, Wellington, NZ
Saturday March 22nd: @ Transmission Room, Auckland , NZ (All Ages)
Sunday March 23rd: @ Metalstock Festival, Sydney, AU (All Ages) *Headliner
Tuesday March 25th: @ Amplifier Bar, Perth, AU
Thursday March 27th: @ Fowlers Live, Adelaide, AU (All Ages)
Friday March 28th: @ Club Phoenix, Brisbane, AU
Saturday March 29th: @ The Corner Hotel, Melbourne, AU

In other news, Kataklysm were forced to cancel the shows in Dublin and Glasgow on the 21st and 22nd for circumstances beyong the band's control.

"What a disapointment it was... What happend is simple. We didn't wanna make a big fuss out of it, but the hordes of angry Scotish and Irish fans contacting us, wondering why we cancelled, made me issue this update. We were 10 min. away from the fairy to Ireland when our tour manager woke us up in the early morning, telling us that the driver had been arrested because of overdrives and not taking the required rest time - In Europe, a new law has been established for six months, demanding new restrictions and less road times for drivers. This law had been protested by drivers and they made an example out of us.
Our driver was a cool cat, worked hard for us but he needed to get to Dublin in time so he broke the law. Since it happend a few times on this tour, the bus records couldn't lie, so the officer (a douchbag by the way) had no compensation and gave us the maximum fines, which included arresting the driver and taking the bus... So we were stranded in Wales. Special thanks to the whole Rock the Nation organization, who solved the problem extremely fast and got us and Aborted a nice hotel. We waited for a new bus to pick us up the next day, which did but just a tad too late to make it in time to Glasgow. We will make it up next year, we won't forget!! Everything else is killer, the tour was a gem and we look forward to the NB festival this weekend, and going back home to pound the US and Canadian soil on the Chimaira tour... It's gona kill!!"

Kataklysm - Entered Studio Last Week

The band entered the studio last week with producer and guitarist J-f Dagenais, - drummer Max Duhamel will be first laying down the drum work for "Prevail" - The recording process will last five weeks (hopefully) with vocalist Maurizio Iacono schedualed to record his vocals in September.

Maurizio's comments:
" The album is done and ready to go, although it was a breeze to write this album as things came so naturally, on the lyrics end, I worked the hardest i have in years making sure everything is where it should be,at times it was real difficult but the end result will speak for itself, Im truely convinced this album will take no prisoners, as you know we dont repeat the same record twice, this album stands on a league of its own..and im not saying its our best album, because only the fans have the right to say wether it is or not, all im saying is I listen to the songs and I wanna punch the fucking wall, that means we are on to something good."

Kataklysm has also hired the services of Producer Jason Suecof (Chimaira / Trivium / The Black Dahlia Murder) to mix the album in early January 2008, "Prevail" will also feature some guest appearances to be announced at a later date.

The highly anticipated album is scheduled for a worldwide release date of May 23rd 2008 via Nuclear Blast Records.
Stay tuned as the band will release a few touring announcements very soon...

Kataklysm - Cancel US Tour Dates

The following update was posted on the official Kataklysm website:

After much thought, Kataklysm have decided to cancel the few dates they had lined up with Devildriver next month, in favor to enter the studio.

Comments guitarist J-F Dagenais:
"I think we - all in the band - looking forward to hitting the road again and raise mayhem, but there's a lot of magic that just created with the writing process and all of us are too much into it to break the mood and progress. My studio is ready and we dediced to start recording the new album "PREVAIL" on August 15th and work on it til we leave for our European tour at the end of September. We also decided that we will mix the album in January in Florida with producer JASON SUECOF (Trivium, Chimaira, Black Dahlia Murder), which we are looking forward to. Myself and Jason will make sure the album is as flawless as possible with a crushing production!! So for the many fans that were hitting up our MySpace and website, looking forward to seeing us live this summer... we sincerely apologize but it's for a good cause, trust me. On the other side of things, we have some very serious offers for Nov. and Dec. so we are planning on hitting the road in the States then. There's some big things in the horizon... We will keep you posted!"

Kataklysm - Announce New Album Title

Kataklysm singer Maurizio Iacono has issued the following update:

"First off, I want to sincerely thank everyone involved with The Invaluable Darkness Tour we just completed with our friends Dimmu Borgir. We would like to thank them for treating us like brothers and to all their crew for helping us out when we needed it. This new friendship is forged in blood! Thanks also to Devildriver whom we shared a bus with and developed a new friendship. Last but not least, the dudes in Unearth, all cool people. This tour was a triumph for us in all senses, especially to be able to play for our fans on a bigger package, who proved to us everyday that all the blood and sweat wasn't for nothing. The words of encouragement from our fans mean EVERYTHING.

"We're gonna finish writing a new album, titled 'Prevail', this summer, because we know how important this one will be for our fans, and 'prevail' is exactly what we want to do with this album. It has to be as perfect as we can make it. If it doesn't bring the goosebumps, it ain't coming out right. Guitarist J-F Dagenais will produce and engineer the album as always. In the meantime, we have two more tours planned this year: late summer or early fall in North America and in Europe in October with Behemoth and Aborted. A big thank you to all our supporters worldwide. We won't disappoint ? you know how we roll!"

Kataklysm frontman Maurizio Iacono checks in with the following update on the band's website, to lay any rumours to rest:

Kataklysm has officially postponed their scheduled Australian tour and their Road to Devastation II tour (which also included a few dates with Unleashed scheduled for April/May). Comments Maurizio:

"I know lots of our fans were looking forward to seeing us in Australia and in the UK, Scandinavia and all the places we haven't hit yet for this record, but believe me that none are more dissapointed then us... But they WILL be rescheduled. We are thinking of September or sometime during the fall. The reason behind the postponed dates: "The Devil Called... and made us an offer we couldn't refuse!"...
