Machine Head - Pull Out Of Sonisphere UK

Machine Head announced that the band will no longer play the upcoming Sonisphere Festival at Knebworth, UK:

"It is with the utmost disappointment that we must announce that Machine Head will not be playing the Sonisphere date at Knebworth in the U.K. on August 2nd.

In a turn of events that has left us absolutely baffled, the promoter of the U.K. Sonisphere festival recently placed, unbeknownst to us, Limp Bizkit in our 3rd slot on the festival. Seeing as the running order was a significant part of the negotiation and agreement between us and the promoter, and the fact that we had been advertised in that slot since the festival's announcement, you can imagine our surprise when we were "told" that we would now be playing in the 4th slot, under Limp Bizkit, and bizarrely, it was actually expected that we would quietly move down the bill without issue. We will not.

Machine Head turned down the U.K.'s Download Festival, a festival we are very fond of - which incidentally, had us above Limp Bizkit - to commit to the Knebworth festival, as we felt a closer kinship to the bands performing this year. In an effort to make this situation in Knebworth work, we have spent more than a week striving to resolve this issue in a proper manner. Unfortunately, that did not happen.

So we have regrettably been left with no choice but to cancel our appearance rather than stand for the disrespect and indignity offered by a promoter who won't honor our agreement. While we know that our fans will be furious about this situation - as are we, beyond words - we trust that you will all understand our position, and we encourage you to voice your opinion about it as loud and clear as possible.

The rest of our festival dates across Europe, including the other Sonisphere dates, as well as our headline of the Wacken festival remain unchanged."

Machine Head - New Music Video

Machine Head has made a new music video for the song 'Now I Lay Thee Down'. You can watch it the official site of Machine Head here.

According to Headbangers Blog, the clip was shot in February and additional footage was filmed in August. Mike Sloat directed, working in various locations around San Francisco, but mostly in and around the Regency Center, a theater built in 1909. According to Roadrunner Records, "All of the backdrops of the play are original to the theater, close to 100 years old and include ornate images of hell, forest, and more. As for the plot, the band's label says "the video is a play about a past time in which a strange and grotesque man, who is shunned by society and outcast, decides that he wants to know what it's like to die. He asks his lover, the only person who cares for him, to take his life. Reluctantly, she does. But then she becomes so distraught and miserable about losing her only love that she decides she must take her own life as well to be with him forever. The play ends with the two lovers together again, at last in the afterlife. The curtain drops and the entire cast bows to the audience."

'Now I Lay Thee Down' can be found on Machine Head's latest album "The Blackening".

Machine Head - Announce Replacing Tour Musicians

After a thorough audition process, Machine Head have chosen Brandon Sigmund from Bay Area metal heroes Hostility to play bass in place of the injured Adam Duce for the duration of this Fall's highly-anticipated Black Tyranny Tour. Also joining the band onstage to handle Adam's vocal duties will be Jared MacEachern of tourmates Sanctity.

"We're really stoked to have found guys as killer as Brandon and Jared to help us through this situation" says Machine Head drummer Dave McClain, "we can't wait to get out there and give our fans in the States the headlining show they've been waiting for, especially with bands like Arch Enemy, Throwdown and Sanctity on the bill".

Duce's leg is healing normally and he's currently on track to rejoin the band for the rest of their 2007 tour schedule, starting with their Loudpark date in Japan on October 20th.

For the time beeing the band is currently doing some rehearsing with possible temporary bass players and is in the final steps of selecting an adequate replacement for Duce. An additional announcement will be made as soon as a decision has been made.
