Vanden Plas - New Album In June

The new Vanden Plas album The Seraphic Clockwork will be released on the 4th of June 2010 by Frontiers Records. The 8 songs were recorded at Bazement Studio by engineer Markus Teske and produced by the band.

The story of the concept album was written by Andy Kuntz and tells about a journey in time. The protagonist, who lives in 16th century Rome, comes under the spell of an Old Testament prophecy. He travels back to Jerusalem in the year 33 Anno Domini where he must face his God-given destiny.

Stephan Lill states about the new album: "I think that my preference for heavier bands shines through more than ever before. Heavy riffs, elaborate keyboard and orchestra arrangements plus catchy hook lines come together in a perfect symbiosis which marks Vanden Plas' characteristic style. I feel that we were much more adventurous on The Seraphic Clockwork than ever before."

Vanden Plas - New Song Online

Vanden Plas have issued the following update:

"Here's a little Christmas present from Vanden Plas: On the Vanden Plas MySpace Page, you can now listen to the yet unreleased "Ouverture Of The Christo Musical"! The Ouverture features parts and melodies from different songs from the musical. Enjoy!

In addition, we will hold a little contest in order to see how many of the songs you are able to recognize: listen to the ouverture, find out which songs are included and note the song titles and the time period where they appear in the Ouverture(!). Send your submissions via e-mail to contest vandenplas de and do not forget to include your name and address. The winner will be picked among those who find the highest number of correct songs (actually, the band doesn't believe that there will be anyone who recognizes all!). The prize will be a Vanden Plas surprise package. Please send your submissions before January 31st. Good luck!"

Vanden Plas - Confirmed For ProgPower Scandinavia

The following announcement was posted on the official ProgPower Scandinavia homepage a while back:

"Finally we can announce the last band for PP Scan '08 - the headliner for Friday October 31st:

Vanden Plas from Germany is one of the most well-respected melodic progressive metal bands around. With a 20 year history behind them, the band made their big mark on the scene back in the mid-nineties with such great discs as "Colour Temple" and "The God Thing". Their latest release, the impressive conceptual album "Christ O" from 2006 see the band taking another step further in combining easy-listening hard rock melodies with technical prog-metal.
Last time Vanden Plas played in Copenhagen was almost 10 years ago, as support for Dream Theater in front of 5.000 fans. With their show on ProgPower Scandinavia, Friday October 31st 2008, we're bringing back Vanden Plas for a long overdue performance here in Denmark."

Vanden Plas - Explain ProgPower Cancellation

As posted on the German Progressive metallers' website, here's a message from the band about the cancellation of today's ProgPower show:

"Dear Fans and people who wanted to see us play at PP 2007!

We feel deeply sorry about what happened and that we couldn't make it this year. Unfortunately we couldn't pass the immigration control when we arrived in Detroit on Wednesday October 3rd. The immigration service told us that we had the wrong papers. We don't understand the problem because we did it in the regular way. They were sending us back home after six hours of questioning. We had no chance to go to Atlanta. Now that we're back home after 40 hours of non-stop travel we are sad and empty to face this disappointing situation. We've been really looking forward to PP VIII for such a long time. Nevertheless we whish you a great festival in our absence with all the other great bands."

Vanden Plas - Vocalist Launches Solo Project

Amaseffer is the new "holy project" from Andy Kuntz, enigmatic lead singer of German progressive metal band Vanden Plas.

The story of Exodus will be told in the eventual trilogy of albums with the Hebrew name of Amaseffer referring to the name chosen for the Israelites in the Bible.

Originating from Israel, the musical side of Amaseffer features Yuval Kramer (guitar), Hanan Abramovitch (guitar) and Erez Yohanan (drums). The unique progressive sound of the trilogy is a mixture of Middle Eastern spices with an epic, cinematic scope polished with philharmonic orchestrations.

Andy Kuntz will co-produce the albums, with the second and third albums due nine and eighteen months respectively after the release of the first CD. The band are not yet signed but hope a deal can be arranged soon.

Vanden Plas - New Album Delayed A Little

The release date of the new Vanden Plas album had to be pushed back a little due to a delay of the final mix. "Christ 0" will be in stores at the end of April. The concept of the album is based on Alexandre Dumas' novel "The Count of Monte Cristo". The first edition comes in a special packaging and will feature the Andrew Lloyd Webber song "Gethsemane" from the musical "Jesus Christ Superstar" as a bonus track.

Vanden Plas - On World Cup 2006, Album Delayed

Abydos (the Andy Kuntz' project) will be performed live, also the new Vanden Plas album was delayed, the following message was posted by the band on the latest newsletter:

"Now it's official: "Abydos" will be brought to the stage! Andy Kuntz' "Heavy Mental Shadow Opera" will premier in Kaiserslautern's Pfalztheater next February. It will be the city's official cultural contribution to the FIFA Football World Cup 2006 in Germany! Vanden Plas will play live with big choirs, the orchestral arrangements of Stefan Glass and an ensemble with more than 50 persons.
Günter Werno will be the musical director and Andy Kuntz will play the main character "Fly"!
The music of the show mainly comes from the Abydos album, but a few VP tracks will also be involved in the storyboard.

In other news, the next VP album had to be delayed for several reasons. First, Stephan has been bery sick throughout 2004 and had to take a small backseat (he's now starting to get better). The band also needs some time to build a new rehearsal room. The good news is that the band have just finished the preproduction of the new songs! According to Stephan, they are heavy songs with progressive elements and catchy vocal lines, and sound like a mix of all the previous albums... but somehow a little different to what they have done before!
"Christ Zero" will most likely be released around january/february 2006."

Vanden Plas - Set Title For The New Album

The name for the new Vanden Plas album has been chosen: It will be a concept album called 'Christ 0' ('Christ Zero'). It's a modern adaptation of Alexandre Dumas' book 'Monte Cristo'. The band is also working on a rock opera based on the same concept, but the regular Vanden Plas album is their main priority. Even though the band has been working on theater-oriented material for their rock opera, 'Christ Zero' will be a very heavy album. The band has written more than 25 songs and will chose about 15 of them to work on the arrangements for the album. The leftover material will be used for the rock opera.
