Rage - Release Date For New Album

The release date of the new Rage album "Carved In Stone" has been set. Nuclear Blast will release the CD on 22nd of February 2008.

Rage guitarist Victor Smolski previously stated about the upcoming CD: "From the beginning we decided to compose the songs for this CD more straight, concentrating on cool riffs and catchy melodies. Actually, with our new lineup it was easy to realize everything, as we pulled together with André Hilgers on drums perfectly! All the recordings with our co-producer, sound engineer and almost fourth band member Charly Czajkowski runs perfectly, as well as the final mix with Charlie Bauerfeind. From my point of view I promise you brutal guitar riffs with fancy soli. In one song, I've hidden a modification of a real famous melody ? the one who will first recognize this melody will get a present! At 'Open My Grave', my sitar guitar came into operation, at 'Lord of the Flies', I've contributed a phat keyboard arrangement."

Other song titles set to appear on the CD include "Carved in Stone", "Drop Dead", "Gentle Murders", "One Step Ahead" and "Without You"

Visions Of Atlantis - Part Ways With Two Members, Kamelot Tour Cancelled

The following message, regarding the departure of vocalist Melissa Ferlaak and guitarist Wolfgang Koch, was posted on the official website of Symphonic Metallers Visions Of Atlantis:

"Yes, you read right, Melissa, as well as her boyfriend Wolfgang are not in Visions of Atlantis anymore. We were as much shocked about that as you must be, but it is the sad truth. Some people just don't know what the word commitment means...

We (the remaining rest of VoA) want to appologize to all fans out there who believed in us and supported us, we hope you stay loyal with VoA. Of course we are trying to find a substitute for Melissa, we already have one for Wolfgang (to be announced soon). The show must go on... "

The statements from both Melissa and Wolfgang can be read here.

In the meantime, Thomas Caser, the band's drummer & management, has posted the following statement:

"Kamelot tour is cancelled, they are already looking for a replacement. So to all who have been looking forward to see Visions of Atlantis live - please don't blame it on Visions of Atlantis. Visions of Atlantis will continue and we hope that you all stay with us!

BUT we have some good news for you - our friend WERNER FIEDLER is back in the band! He was mainly responsible for the songwriting of the first two records and we are happy that he's back!!!"

King Diamond - North American Tour With Kreator Cancelled

The following has been posted by Ole Bang on the official website of the band:

"Most regretfully we have to announce that King will not be able to tour North America as planned. King has over the past 6 month been suffering from a herniated disc in the spine, and has still not recovered to a satisfactory level. He was prescribed absolute rest for several months, and this appear to be more than half a year.

Following several visits to specialists and most recent MRI-scan; we have to realize that his condition need far more rest than expected in the first place. At the moment he can neither walk for more than an hour at a time, nor can he sit like you would do in a normal daily life; ie. there is no chance that he will fully recover in time for the tour start in March.

We deeply regret the inconvenience caused for everyone involved, for promoters, bands and fans; and most of all we're very very sorry that we can not go out and perform for the fans; who have been waiting for the tour to kick off.

Unfortunately life is unpredictable, and it's completely out of our hands when illness kick in, and no medicine, how harsh it might have been, can cure the situation. If anything could remedy the situation it would have been done, but for now we simply just have to wait, and let King get the much needed rest.

I will post news about any developments as soon as it's available. At this time we will also like to say Thanks, for all the kind words of a speedy recovery we have received."

Kreator also announced they will not tour alone. So the whole tour has been cancelled. An update by the band goes as follows:

"To end the rumours: Kreator will not be playing any of the King Diamond/Kreator tour alone! Here´s a statement from Mille!

"First of all: We are very disapointed that our tour in March/April is not going to happen! We were really looking foreward to see all our North American fans again and were preparing a killer show for you! But I must also say, that right now the most important thing is King Diamonds health. I want to see the King playing shows and producing albums for many years to come in good shape and so all I can say in the name of the whole band at this point is: Get well soon King and all the strenght and best wishes from Germany! All hail to the King!"

Threshold - Headline First ProgPower Scandinavia

Posted on the official site of ProgPower Scandinavia:

"We're proud to announce that the first ProgPower Scandinavia festival will be held at The Rock in Copenhagen, Denmark on November 9th and 10th 2007.

Today we announce the first 4 out of a total of 10 bands for the festival - the first 4 are:
- Mercenary
- Threshold
- Circus Maximus
- Andromeda

With these 4 bands we have already determined that the festival is going to have a broad appeal; from the the very British sounding prog-rock/prog-metal of Threshold, the technical overflow from Sweden's Andromeda, the melodic progressive metal of Norway's Circus Maximus to the Danish melo-death band Mercenary, we will try to come up with a mixture of bands and styles within the power & progressive spectre that will please everyone.

The next couple of bands will be announced in a few weeks. Stay tuned"

Rudra - Part Ways With Guitarist

Singapore Death Metal act Rudra have posted the following message on their website:

"Kannan has decided to part ways with Rudra. He will be relocating to Australia and the band wishes him the best of luck in the future and a big thanks for his monumental contribution to Rudra. However, the band hopes that his departure is temporary.

The band is presently auditioning guitarists and will announce the replacement real soon"

A comment by Kathir goes as follows:

"Kannan leaving the band is a sad note in the career of Rudra. We are definitely going to miss him. Kannan was part of the most creative phase of Rudra. And we sincerely wish that he succeeds in all his endeavours in Australia.

Meanwhile, Shiva, Selvam & I are in the studio writing new material for the forthcoming albums. We hope to write enough material to produce two albums to complete the Brahmavidya Trilogy. The material so far done seems to point at a heavier direction. Let's wait and see how that evolves..."
