Bloodbath - At Wacken Open Air

Iced Earth - News on Gettysburg DVD

"The new year will begin for Iced Earth with the delivery of the long-awaited Gettysburg DVD. This unique release will feature the epic work "Gettysburg (1863)" from 2004's The Glorious Burden stepping out of its stereo confines and expanding into a powerful 5.1-channel surround-sound mix. In fact, there will be two different surround-sound mixes (one "metal" and one "theatrical"), set to moving images. Additionally, the DVD will feature a historical commentary from the Gettysburg battlefield, and an in-depth interview with Jon Schaffer. More details will follow.

Katatonia - Back on Stage

"During the following 6 months, we'll be very busy with the making of our new album. Nevertheless, we won't be locked up in the studio the entire time as we have just confirmed 3 live dates in march - the Metal Mania festivals (, that will take place in Hungary, Czech and Poland. Other bands appearing on the bill are Cradle of Filth, Apocalyptica, Moonspell etc. This will be only opportunity to catch the band for a long time, so show up and rock with us!"

Epica - News on the Forthcoming Album

"Consign to Oblivion" will be the title of the upcoming Epica album which will be released in March/April of this year.

Philip and Sascha have just worked out the last details on the mix and the result is really amazing!!! The cd is now waiting to be mastered which will happen next Monday by Peter van '/t Riet at Soundfactory. More info will follow soon so stay tuned!

SYL - News on the New Album

Once an underground phenomenon, the Canadian quartet STRAPPING YOUNG LAD are now on the verge of a major genre-defying breakthrough with Alien, their highly anticipated fourth studio album. This offering is quickly going to redefine the meaning of extreme. Follow the link ( to download the mind-blowing track "Shitstorm" from Alien, the group's most maniacal and outlandish offering yet. Take some time to sit down, clear your mind and prepare yourself for devastation.

Beginning Feb. 8th the first segment of "The Making of Alien" will be online and a new installment will be posted each Tuesday leading up to the album's release on March 22nd.

STRAPPING YOUNG LAD documented their entire recording process, and the first four parts will provide an in-depth look into Armoury Studios (Kiss, Van Halen) where mastermind Devin Townsend (vocals, guitars) describes how the album was assembled.

Also, for the first time, fans can witness how Gene Hoglan (ex-Death, ex-Testament), Byron Stroud (now also in Fear Factory) and Jed Simon lay their tracks down. The final three parts of this series will focus on the more technical aspects (gear, settings, samples, etc.) of the recording.

The follow-up to the group's critically acclaimed 2003 release, SYL, is frontman Devin Townsend's personal cathartic outlet to unleash all of his angst, and it proves to be a very positive therapeutic experience for both him and his fans. The group also has extensive touring plans already in the works and expect an announcement to be made soon.

Amorphis - New Singer Announced

The singer Tomi Joutsen, from Nevergreen, is the new singer of Amorphis, according to a message posted on the band's website (

"New Amorphis singer is Tomi Joutsen. The band brought him into stage this evening (8.1.05). Amorphis did a benefit show and gave the income over to The United Nations Children´s Fund to help kids who suffered Tsunami. This page is going to be updated next week with new photos and news regarding new album etc... The band says that new songs are stronger than ever".

Children of Bodom - A. Laiho Broke His Arm

According to the CHILDREN OF BODOM fan site, CHILDREN OF BODOM guitarist Alexi Laiho broke his arm and will most likely be forced to sit out the upcoming "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott (DAMAGEPLAN, PANTERA) tribute concert that is scheduled to be held in Helsinki, Finland on January 15, 2005. Laiho's replacement for the concert will be announced at a later date.
