Mustaine - Announces Gigantour!

Megadeth and Dream Theater to co-headline GIGANTOUR 2005

For Immediate Release:

DAVE MUSTAINE'S 'GIGANTOUR'
SET TO LAUNCH IN LATE JULY;
DREAM THEATER, FEAR FACTORY,
DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN AND NEVERMORE
CONFIRMED TO JOIN MEGADETH ON THE MAINSTAGE
FOR SIX-WEEK NORTH AMERICAN TREK

It's called GIGANTOUR, and it's the brainchild of MEGADETH
frontman/guitarist DAVE MUSTAINE.

Set to launch in late July, GIGANTOUR is a six-week festival
trek co-headlined by MEGADETH and DREAM THEATER, who'll be
accompanied by other mainstage acts Fear Factory, Dillinger
Escape Plan and Nevermore. Artists for the second stage will
be announced in the coming weeks.

GIGANTOUR follows MEGADETH's sold-out 2004 "Blackmail The
Universe" Tour in support of 2004's THE SYSTEM HAS FAILED--
MEGADETH's tenth studio album--which debuted on the charts
at #18 and was critically hailed as a brilliant return to form.
Bandmates Glen Drover (guitar), James MacDonough (bass) and
Shawn Drover (drums) will once again join MUSTAINE on the road.

GIGANTOUR--whose moniker was inspired by the classic 1960's
cartoon "Gigantor"--will criss-cross North America, with stops
in amphitheatres and arenas in cities including Los Angeles,
New York, Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Montreal, Washington,
Philadelphia, Boston, Denver and Minneapolis, among others.
The tour is implementing the "fan friendly" ticket price of
approximately $35 each. MUSTAINE notes: "I think people may
want an affordable alternative to the choices out there--along
the lines of a pure music festival--like Monsters of Rock or
Clash of the Titans."

MUSTAINE handpicked the bands for GIGANTOUR, with a focus on
musicianship. "There are few very successful tours out each
summer and in order to be significant, I knew the first
Gigantour had to make an impact with top bands like DREAM THEATER,
Fear Factory, Dillinger Escape Plan and Nevermore." MUSTAINE
wanted to "put together a festival that consisted of positive
bands that play heavy music in a high energy environment."

(...)

MUSTAINE is excited to hit the road and has a positive outlook
for GIGANTOUR. "I look forward to watching this develop over
the years and seeing how we can turn this into something that's
going to stand the test of time. And if this works, and it really
works, maybe we'll take it elsewhere."

Shaman - New Name

It's official. With the new album, the new tour and other new stuff, the band begins 2005 with a modification in the name, due to patent matters.

The change isn't very important, just a new "a" vocal has been added: Shaaman.
The pronunciation is still the same, "shaman" in one word only. To make sure the name was good, the band did consult a real shaman (!)...

The album "Reason" includes 10 new tracks (with a cover from the 80s) and will be released in March in Brasil (Pela Disc).

Century Media Wish You a Happy Xmas & New Year

What do you want for Christmas, do you want something (or someone) for yourself, for someone else, or are you one of those pansy tree-huggers looking for some unattainable, unreachable, and unrealistic higher ideal? What kinds of traditions do you and yours follow for the holidays?

I asked Century Media artists for their answers and here is what I got:

Dear Santa,

I have a few requests for you. Please listen carefully as I can't reach my stereo, and who would want to turn down Finntroll at Christmas time anyways:

Snowy Shaw (drums Dream Evil) asks for peace on earth and the death penalty, he says somehow they are linked. Tanja (vocals Lullacry) has asked for one bottle of perfume, she says she really doesn't need much and she won't ask for anything else. Mark Briody (guitar Jag Panzer) has asked for the new Iron Maiden DVD. He says he's waited years to see that classic Maiden footage, and that when he was a kid, he'd watch MTV for 8 hours just hoping to see the 'Run to Hills' video. Sakis (guitar/vocals Rotting Christ) asked for snow - then he remembered he lives in Greece. Shane Embury (bass Napalm Death) asks that you leave him one or two cookies for Christmas morning, and while we are talking about your behavior here, Timo Kotipelto requests that you "use the door this time", and Max (drums Krisiun) says " don't bother me, you drunk fat ass ." Adam Sagan (drums Into Eternity) has asked for the impossible a Minnesota Vikings Super Bowl Victory, but will settle for the extended version of Return of the King, or an Into Eternity/Opeth tour.

Thanks for listening Santa while you are at it, can you please do the impossible and reunite some of my favorite bands, namely: Immortal, and Emperor. I know you worked hard and got us Bruce Dickinson back in Iron Maiden, and Rob Halford with Judas Priest, but now it's time to turn your sites on the underground.

Sincerely,

Heather Smith

As for holiday time-honored traditions I leave it to Sean McGrath (vocals/guitars IMPALED) to give us guidance on how to celebrate the holidays:

"On Christmas Eve I like to wrap my head in duct tape, wander out on the street, and expose myself to old ladies. Then I usually black out. When I wake up, the Holding Officer always has a wonderful breakfast ready for me of boiled oats and reconstituted orange juice. After I post bail I spend the morning outside the porno theater, drinking vodka and Tang. Then I go home and stick my head in the oven."

Century Media - Band updates

Some news from Century Media - Shadows Fall, Children of Bodom, The Haunted, Arch Enemy, Lacuna Coil, God Forbid, Diecast:

SHADOWS FALL - www.shadowsfallrocks.com

In its first week of release, the new SHADOWS FALL album, The War Within , SoundScanned an impressive 39,251 copies, debuting at #20 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart. The disc also checked in at #1 on the Nielsen SoundScan Independent Labels Chart and #2 on the Nielsen SoundScan Hard Music Chart (behind Chevelle). This is the highest first-week SoundScan and Billboard chart debut of any Century Family artist to date. SHADOWS FALL's first week numbers also surpass those of Atreyu, Killswitch Engage and Lamb of God, a further notable testament of the band's genre status. The group is featured on the cover of Revolver's November issue, which is currently on stands.

This accomplishment comes after almost a decade of relentless touring, four studio albums and an undying work ethic. After touring the world with the likes of Hatebreed, Kittie, Mushroomhead, Children of Bodom and The Dillinger Escape Plan, the band were invited to take part in Ozzfest 2003. They were heralded as the breakout band of the year and consistently sold more records every week than any other sidestage band. This led to being the only band invited for a two-year stint at Japan's Beast Feast, the 4th annual Take Action Tour (alongside Avenged Sevenfold and Poison The Well) and then co-headlining the first annual MTV2 Headbanger's Ball Tour with Killswitch Engage and Lamb of God. Videos for the tracks "Thoughts Without Words," "Destroyer of Senses" and "The Idiot Box" were greatly embraced by U.S. television programs Headbanger's Ball on MTV2 and Uranium on Fuse; two shows where the band appeared as guests several times. All of this exposure enabled SHADOWS FALL to watch both their fanbase and record sales explode. Their previous album, The Art of Balance, went on to SoundScan over 100,000 copies in the U.S. becoming the first album in Century Media history to reach this illustrious milestone.

SHADOWS FALL's stunning new offering was produced once again by Zeuss (Hatebreed) at Planet Z Studios and features 10 tracks of sonic devastation. The first pressing of the disc is limited to 150,000 embossed Digipak copies and is packaged with a bonus DVD, featuring a video for "Stepping Outside the Circle" from The Art of Balance , two live videos, guitar lessons with Matt Bachand and Jon Donais, a drum lesson with Jason Bittner and a Century Media sampler.

Hammerfall - recording new album

After different reports like the steel horse accident of Oscar Dronjak and the new solo albums of Joacim Cans and Magnus Rosen, the focus is set finally on HAMMERFALL again. This time, the Swedish crusaders have chosen a quiet place in the middle of Denmark to record their follow-up to the successful Crimson Thunder, with star producer Charlie Bauernfeind. Oscar Dronjak has already released some songs titles off the new CD: "The Templar Flame", "Born To Rule" and "Fury Of The Wild".

"We will certainly outdo all our previous albums and get one step closer to the immortality of Heavy Metal"; the guitarist announces and will surely keep his word.
