Corrosion Of Conformity - Update On The New Album

As reported back in February, the reunited Animosity line-up of Corrosion Of Conformity has entered the studio with long-time producer John Custer (Blind, Deliverance, Wiseblood, America's Volume Dealer, Arms Of God) to begin recording the band's new album tentatively due for a late 2011 release.

In a recent interview with UGO, bassist/vocalist Mike Dean told the following about the forthcoming album: "The title is yet to be determined. A self-titled release crossed our minds but the album title is a game-time decision. October is a good time but if we miss that, early 2012 would be a fine time for release. "The Moneychangers", "River Of Stone" and "Rat City" are some of the [song]titles."

Mastic Scum - New Album In The Works

Austrian grindcore act Mastic Scum are working on a new full-length album, tentatively due later this year.

The band issued the following update: "We are currently working on the new album! We are fucking excited about the new record which follows our last album, Dust, our strongest release up to date, of which we are very proud!! However, the new release will be for sure a progression from the songwriting and sound production points of view.

Some of the songwriting is already done, but we still have work to do! The new material so far is fucking brutal, combining shredding rhythms, mosh grooves and grindcore blast attacks! We sure give 100% in the songwriting process and we cannot wait to enjoy with everyone the new overdose of brutal distorted structures! Be prepared!!

As our goal is to enter the studio earliest in autumn 2011, we are very focused on our work and will play just a few live shows this summer/fall. Nevertheless, we really look forward to grind with you at our upcoming shows!"

Skyclad - Vocalist To Release Solo Album

Global Music are pleased to announce the release of Flying In The Face Of Logic, the first solo album from singer/songwriter Kevin Ridley - producer/vocalist with folk-metal pioneers Skyclad. The album will be released on July 4th.

Watch the video for the first single, "Point of Departure", below.

The album contains 14 original tracks, mainly inspired by the singer's native Northeast (England) so fittingly, it features several northern session players - notably Northumbrian pipes player Andy May, Folkworks fiddle player, Sophy Ball, and Blitzkrieg's Dave Anderson on bass - as well as contributions from the current members of Skyclad.

Ridley describes the record as a form of continuation from Skyclad's Semblance of Normality: "Semblance... was the first album where all the band members involved had roots in Northern England and references were buried within the songs. It was something I wanted to explore, so Flying In The Face Of Logic became autobiographical and based upon my personal stories of life, love and growing up in the North-East of England."

After spending 35 years in the music industry, engineering and producing for thrash-metallers Venom, Forgodsake, Anathema, Pariah and Skyclad, Kevin Ridley took the opportunity to emerge from behind the mixing desk and experience the role of a player, rather than Producer. Five years in the making, Ridley described the journey of writing the album as a challenge of learning "how to fly and make my own rules".

Flying In The Face Of Logic was produced by Kevin Ridley, recorded at Newcastle's Blast Studio, and mixed by Dario Mollo (Glenn Hughes/Tony Martin/Lacuna Coil).

Temple Of The Black Moon - New Band Feat. Cradle Of Filth, Gorgoroth, Anthrax Members

Lo and truly behold! A hellish new band has emerged from the quagmire that is the extreme music scene.

Imagine a cauldron bubbling over with the unsavory flavors of Tool and Celtic Frost, and seasoned with the likes of Immortal and At The Gates, and you'd be about halfway to describing the uncouth racket these guys have spat upon an unsuspecting planet.

Calling themselves the Temple Of The Black Moon, the group (who describe their output as "music for an evil film noir') are an eclectic stew of musicians/hell-raisers/miscreants in the ungainly form of Dani Filth (Cradle Of Filth), Rob Caggiano (Anthrax, The Damned Things), King ov Hell (formerly of Gorgoroth and Ov Hell) and John Tempesta (formerly of White Zombie and now drumming with The Cult).

Explaining the origins of the name, vo-killist Dani Filth had this to mutter on the subject: "We had an innumerable amount of names that never seemed likely to stick, that was until we put our proverbial heads together and narrowed it down to just three or four, and then tossed for it (proverbially of course) using a silver Norwegian crown (we couldn't find any proper money). The name Temple Of The Black Moon represents the rigorous worship of desire, (the black moon astrologically has always held association with the dark Goddess Lilith) and of course the ramifications of the lunar eclipse, always a herald for death and ill-omen."

So far almost an album's worth of material has been demoed, with Temple Of The Black Moon hooking up in the darkest depths of Bergen, Norway to collectively thrash it out. Songtitles thus far include "Infernal Desire Machine", "Don't Call Up What You Can't Put Down", "Dark Eyes For Trouble", "Beautifully Perverse" and "C.N.T (All That's Missing Is You)".

An album release and subsequent live dates are expected to happen around mid-2012.

ICS Vortex - Signs Worldwide Deal With Century Media

Norway's ICS Vortex have signed a worldwide deal with Century Media Records for the launch of the versatile Storm Seeker debut album, to be released on August 22nd, 2011 in Europe and August 23rd, 2011 in North America.

ICS Vortex, former Dimmu Borgir and current Borknagar member, comments on the signing as follows: "Boarding with Century Media, ICS Vortex is ready to weather whatever storm lies ahead. The album, aged like a pirate's favorite drink, is now ready to be shot with fellow mates."

ICS Vortex's debut album is a havoc of varied metal and takes the musical elements from his +10 years experience with Dimmu Borgir as well as the legacy of the classic bands with whom he is still active (Borknagar, Arcturus and Lamented Souls), topping things off with his signature clean vocals in order to make Storm Seeker become a perfectly balanced axe, whether a song is cutting fast, or dicing slow.

Storm Seeker features appearances by Borknagar teammate Asgeir Mickelson on drums and also Terje "Cyrus" Andersen (Susperia, ex-Dimmu Borgir) contributing some lead guitars. The extremely versatile debut album was recorded at Norwegian Toproom Studio (Mayhem, Tristania, Borknagar, etc.) with engineer Børge Finstad and mastered in Sweden by Peter in de Betou at Tailor Maid Studio (Arch Enemy, Dark Tanquillity, Dimmu Borgir, etc.).

After recordings, the ICS Vortex project had evolved a lot and actually turned into an ambitioned band, eager to perform live and with a permanent line-up as follows:

ICS Vortex - Vocals (ex-Dimmu Borgir, Borknagar, Arcturus)
Asgeir Mickelson - Drums (Sarke, Spiral Architect, ex-Borknagar, ex-Testament)
Terje "Cyrus" Andersen - Guitar (Susperia, ex-Satyricon, ex-Dimmu Borgir)
Jens F. Ryland - Guitar (Borknagar)
Steinar "Azarak" Gundersen - Bass (Spiral Architect, ex-Satyricon)

More ICS Vortex news and the first sound samples will be launched in the coming weeks.
