Detonation - Contest: 10 Years Of Detonation

10 years of DETONATION

It was in the summer of 1997 Koen, Mike and Thomas rehearsed together for the first time. In the year that followed they only rehearsed about once a month, nevertheless writing a large number of songs, in a much more black metal-ish style than nowadays. One year later, Otto joined on bass. The first show was done at the end of 1998, so were the first recordings, and the band name was changed into Detonation. The rest is history.

Now it's 2007, and we can look back on 10 years of great fun, horrible hangovers, over 200 shows, several tours, 2 Mini-CD's, 3 full-length albums, broken equipment, sleepless nights, alcoholic frenzies, empty venues, packed venues, failing cars, near-death experiences and so on. Still going strong with the original band members, and more motivated than ever to tour and play as much as we can and create music the best we can.

To celebrate, we're doing a special show on the 26th of October in dB'S, in our home town Utrecht. We'll be playing the longest set we've ever done, performing songs we haven't played live in ages, having some special guests on stage, and doing a number of covers. It's going to be lots and lots of fun, and it's an evening you do not want to miss, so be there!

We'd also like to take the opportunity to thank YOU for supporting us. Obviously it's impossible for a band to survive without people buying our CD's and merch, coming to our shows, and spreading the word about us. Plus having a few beers with you after the show is always great as well! So a big THANK YOU to all of you, we much appreciate all your support. To show our appreciation we've issued three contests:

Myspace contest

You can help us by putting us in your top friends, adding our song to your profile, or both! We're going o give away 10 copies of "Emission Phase" to people that have us featured in their top friends and/or profile song. We'll be choosing these people entirely random form our friends list somewhere between October 1st and October 20th. We'll just keep clicking on profiles (again, random, not from page 1) and will keep on trying until we have 10 winners! We'll get in touch with you via MySpace if you're one of the winners. And, if you want, as a bonus you'll be in our top friends for the month of November!

International contest

-1st prize: An exclusive limited edition LP-version of 'An Epic Defiance' containing extended artwork, a signed copy of our latest album 'Emission Phase', our first ever official release 'Lost Euphoria', a Detonation T-shirt and some bonus material.

The Dillinger Escape Plan/Meshuggah - Tour Cancelled

Due to circumstances not in our control, and I'll leave it up to the other band on the tour to explain this one, The Dillinger Escape Plan/Meshuggah European tour in November WILL NOT be happening. If you bought tickets, contact whoever you bought them from for a refund. Again, if I started to comment on this right now it would probably not be good, so I'll leave it up to them to do the explaining. We were looking forward to this more than any of you can imagine and we are just as disappointed as anyone. HOWEVER, we ARE in the process of confirming a new great tour during the same time period, most likely in the same cities, and will announce it shortly. Stay tuned.

Hail Of Bullets - Final Mix Of Demo Is Ready

FINAL MONSTROUSLY MASSIVE MAMMOTH MIX!!!

We just received the master disc with the final mixes from Sweden!

Well, Mr Swanö most certainly lived up to our expectations by delivering a mix that crushes every living thing in a 50 mile radius! And we thought our rough mixes were pretty heavy... Now we truly sound like a Tiger Tank rolling from the speakers and into your living room on an unstoppable course of doom, death and destruction!

We decided to upload two songs from our 2007 promo right away. One of them has been made downloadable.

The coming weeks we'll be giving you the chance to compile your own 4 track HoB CD by making one song at a time downloadable. At the end of this cycle we'll also be providing a link to some very cool artwork to complete the package.

So keep checking out www.myspace.com/hailoffuckenbullets

Detonation - Joins Loudnoise Booking Agency

As of now, Detonation will be cooperating with Loudnoise Booking Agency for the booking of dutch shows. Loudnoise is a renown booking agency and has been working with bands such as Municipal Waste, Gorefest and Mnemic. We are very confident this will work out well and Loudnoise can get us the shows we need!

As the summer is coming to an end, we're preparing for our shows in September and the rest of the year. On December 15th we'll be playing Black Winter Day Festival in Bradford UK, and most likely we'll be doing shows in the UK on the 13th and 14th of December as well. More info on that soon!

Hail Of Bullets - Song Online With Martin Van Drunen's Vocals

Finally, the day I know you (and we) have all been waiting for: Mr. van Drunen added his sick vocals to the 4 tracks which will soon be known as the first official Hail Of Bullets promo! He came in, had a few beers, killed a few microphones, had a few more beers, and so it was done.

We put up one song for your enjoyment, but be sure to check back regularly, we may upload another one. Note: this is still unmixed, hopefully by the end of august we'll be able to put up the real thing (i.e. mixed by the master of heaviness, Dan Swanö).

For now let this rough slice of brutality satisfy your cravings for all things death and metal!

Hail Of Bullets - Another Work In Progress On-Line

Hailz fellow metalheads!

While most of you were enjoying the July sun with a cold beer in your hands (or dancing outside in the pouring rain if you happen to live in this metereological shit-hole called Holland), we've been working our arses off once again this weekend, adding bass guitar to the 4 tracks we've recorded for our upcoming promo-CD...

So it's time to offer you another look in Hail Of Bullet's kitchen of doom; we have uploaded 2 tracks featuring drums, guitars and bass! In 1 or 2 weeks you will be able to hear the more or less completed versions of these 2 songs WITH vocals added!

As stated earlier, this is NOT the definite guitarsound, which is going to be be even heavier and more brutal...

Anyway, enjoy this shit and let us know what you think of it...

Cheers,

Stephan

Epica - Mark Jansen Raises 3800 Euros For WWF

As stated in earlier news, Mark Jansen took part in the benefit bicyle marathon La Marmotte to raise money for the Amazon to save the jaguar.

The following is from the band's site:
We are very proud to announce that Mark finished his benefit cycle marathon the Marmotte. The ride of 174 km took him an astonishing 12 hours and according to Mark this was the heaviest ride he ever did. How much he raised for the WWF exactly has to be calculated now, but we hope to announce it soon!

Mark wants to thank everybody who has sponsored him. Without your faith this wouldn't have been possible!

WWF calculated how much Mark raised and it turned out to be... 3800 euros.

So once again, Mark wants to thank everyone who sponsored him.

Epica - Mark Jansen To Raise Money For World Wide Fund For Nature

On Saturday the 7th of July this year (07-07-07), Mark Jansen, guitarist of Epica, will ride the Marmotte for the benefit of the World Wide Fund for Nature. The Marmotte is a French one-day cycle marathon of 174 km. Despite the fact that this marathon is not very well known to most Dutch people, it is one of the most renowned among the fanatic cyclists. This competitive journey can be compared to a heavy tour leg in the Alps. The ride involves 4 mountain passes, of which 3 are considered hors category (toughest mountains) in the Tour de France.

The marathon will involve the next mountains: Col de la Croix de Fer, col du Télégraphe, col du Galibier and last but not least, l'Alpe de l'Huez needs to be mounted.

Anyone can sponsor me for this event by filling in a certain amount of money per kilometer on the inscription form. All profits from this event will go to the WWF. My travel and accommodation expenses will be taken care of by myself.

I am really looking forward to this and I hope that lots of people will support this campaign.

Greets, Mark

Rat Skates - Thrash Film Released

THRASH METALS' OLD SCHOOL: NEW FILM RELEASED

New Jersey- "Born in The Basement" a documentary from filmmaker/ Overkill founder Rat Skates, will be released on May 12, 2007 by Kundrat Productions

Written and narrated by Skates, this is an autobiographical journey that begins in 1980, when the East Coast of North America experienced a massive culture clash of Punk, Disco, Stoner Music, New Wave and Heavy Metal. Frustrated by this suburban identity crisis and fueled by "The New Wave of British Heavy Metal," a small group of energetic youths was unknowingly creating the most extreme music ever to assault global eardrums - Thrash Metal.

Skates was one of the most recognized pioneers of the movement. This is a drive through his tunnel vision to success, and the philosophy that turned his dreams into reality...THE "DIY" MINDSET!

From milk-crate drum risers to toll-booth advertising and brain-washing girlfriends, this movie boldly goes well behind the scenes, deep into the NY/NJ cover band circuit and pre-digital tape-trading underground to candidly reveal the hidden hurdles that every young musician must jump in the quest for rock stardom, the passion of their vision, and dedication to their family...

Conquering the skeptics and obliterating the odds, this vivid recollection of creating OVERKILL as part of a groundbreaking culture in un-chartered territory is told in true down-to-earth "Old School" spirit. "Born in The Basement" is an inspirational story of perseverance, where his imagination met a desire that turned into obsession...the true, naked secrets of success are exposed, and the realities that eternally haunt it...

The film has been receiving noteworthy acclaim for its candidness: an open, honest, internal assessment of an overlooked time period that began the most significant pivotal point in Metal. Recently, the movie was privately screened by some well-known personnel in the industry: Scott Ian (Anthrax) said, "This looks deep into the scene we came up in and should be required viewing for anyone starting a career in music," while Jay Jay French (Twisted Sister) agrees: "This exposes the deep inner-workings of a musician's vision and dedication, and the dirty little secrets of success in this business for any band, from any genre." Fellow Thrash pioneers Gary Holt (Exodus) and Charlie Benante (Anthrax) both "relived their past?very entertaining and 100% old school." In the re-surfacing of his un-inhibited style, David Ellefson (ex-Megadeth) said, "Rat is a great MC for our community. This is a really ballsy retrospect." Skates and Director Lori DeAngelis-Kundrat combined for an "affectionate and humorous" (Richard Bienstock, Guitar World Magazine), "funny and compelling" (Steven Blush, American Hardcore) combination that Cheetah Chrome (Dead Boys) sums up as "well told, with a lot of heart, and a hell of a lot of fun!"

Rusty Cage Records - Announces New Band Addition To Their Roster

RCR is very glad to announce another great addition to their roster. Obsidian creates technical metal with an awesome sound and vibe, which can be heard on their debut album "Emerging" at the end of May. The vocals on this album, which was self-released in a very small number last year, will be recorded again by new singer Robbe K (also vocalist of the band Disavowed).

The final mixing will be done again by Jochem Jacobs, who you already know for his great job at Cypher's Darkday Carnival and soon on Magnacult's debut album Synore.
