Usurper - Details Revealed For 10th Anniversary Reissue

More fine details have been posted on the Myspace blog of recently split Chicagoan extreme metal band Usurper. In November it was announced that a 10th anniversary re-release was in the works for the group's critically acclaimed CD EP 'Threshold of the Usurper'. Here are the specifics straight from the band's fingers:

"Greetings Warriors of Iron and Rust! This is just a quick update on the new Usurper album slated for early January 2008.

Actually it is not really a new album, it is a re-issue of our long out-of-print "Threshold of the Usurper" MCD. It does however have 2 unreleased tracks in addition to new killer artwork from JUHA VUORMA (Usurper: Skeletal Season/Autopsy fame), as well as never-seen-before photos, a 16 page booklet with extensive liner notes, and a new interview with founding members/songwriters Rick Scythe and General Diabolical Slaughter. This is a must have for anyone who followed Usurper over the years.

It will be released by Primitive Reaction Records (Finland) on CD and gatefold vinyl, and there will be a limited edition of 150 CDs and 50 vinyls that we will sell right here on http://www.myspace.com/usurpermetal which will be individually autographed by founding members Rick Scythe and General D. Slaughter."

The tracklist posted in the November announcement is as follows:

1. Necrocult Pt. 1 (The Metal War)
2. Slavehammer
3. Black Funeral (Mercyful Fate cover)
4. The Dead of Winter
5. Threshold of the Usurper
6. Anno Satanas (demo version)
7. Stormtroopin' (Ted Nugent cover - previously unreleased)
8. The 13th Son (previously unreleased)

Usurper decided to disband around the end of August 2007; their official statement can be found here, along with a much longer explanation from the perspective of guitarist Rick Scythe.

Sunday March 23rd: @ Metalstock Festival, Sydney, AU (All Ages) *Headliner

Thursday March 27th: @ Fowlers Live, Adelaide, AU (All Ages)
Friday March 28th: @ Club Phoenix, Brisbane, AU
Saturday March 29th: @ The Corner Hotel, Melbourne, AU

In other news, Kataklysm were forced to cancel the shows in Dublin and Glasgow on the 21st and 22nd for circumstances beyong the band's control.

"What a disapointment it was... What happend is simple. We didn't wanna make a big fuss out of it, but the hordes of angry Scotish and Irish fans contacting us, wondering why we cancelled, made me issue this update. We were 10 min. away from the fairy to Ireland when our tour manager woke us up in the early morning, telling us that the driver had been arrested because of overdrives and not taking the required rest time - In Europe, a new law has been established for six months, demanding new restrictions and less road times for drivers. This law had been protested by drivers and they made an example out of us.
Our driver was a cool cat, worked hard for us but he needed to get to Dublin in time so he broke the law. Since it happend a few times on this tour, the bus records couldn't lie, so the officer (a douchbag by the way) had no compensation and gave us the maximum fines, which included arresting the driver and taking the bus... So we were stranded in Wales. Special thanks to the whole Rock the Nation organization, who solved the problem extremely fast and got us and Aborted a nice hotel. We waited for a new bus to pick us up the next day, which did but just a tad too late to make it in time to Glasgow. We will make it up next year, we won't forget!! Everything else is killer, the tour was a gem and we look forward to the NB festival this weekend, and going back home to pound the US and Canadian soil on the Chimaira tour... It's gona kill!!"

Kataklysm - Live Dates Postponed

Kataklysm frontman Maurizio Iacono checks in with the following update on the band's website, to lay any rumours to rest:

Kataklysm has officially postponed their scheduled Australian tour and their Road to Devastation II tour (which also included a few dates with Unleashed scheduled for April/May). Comments Maurizio:

"I know lots of our fans were looking forward to seeing us in Australia and in the UK, Scandinavia and all the places we haven't hit yet for this record, but believe me that none are more dissapointed then us... But they WILL be rescheduled. We are thinking of September or sometime during the fall. The reason behind the postponed dates: "The Devil Called... and made us an offer we couldn't refuse!"... Stay tuned for details regarding this... It will be massive."

The full message can be found at http://www.kataklysm.net.
