The Contortionist have begun the recordings of their next opus at Basement Recording Studios in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and will be spending the spring with producer Jamie King (Between The Buried And Me) at the helm. Life Of Agony has announced that the band will perform in Europe this August, the first show since the group's lead singer Mina Caputo (formerly known as Keith Caputo) came out as transgender in 2011. The show will take place at Belgium's Alcatraz Hard Rock & Metal Festival with Marilyn Manson on Friday, August 8th. The River Runs Red line-up, rounded out by guitarist Joey Z, bassist Alan Robert and drummer Sal Abruscato are excited to take the stage together once again after a three-year hiatus.

If you did catch these previous news articles, you are somewhat familiar with this new project Ghost Ship Octavius. Initially, the band featured ex-Arch Enemy guitarist Christopher Amott, who later left to focus on other things. It still features God Forbid's guitarist Matt Wicklund, ex-Nevermore drummer Van Williams, bassist Sara Claudius, and vocalist Adōn Fanion. The band describes their sound as "melodic progressive heavy metal" and you can hear their pre-production version of the song "Alive" below, and see how you like it.

The successor to Grave Digger's Clash Of The Gods will be called Return Of The Reaper, it has been revealed. The 17th album of the German metallers is, according to mastermind Chris Boltendahl, a strong focus back to the all time classic albums of Heavy Metal Breakdown (1984), Witch Hunter (1985) and The Reaper (1993). The album cover was created by Gyula (Hjules Illustration and Design), who has been doing all Grave Digger album artworks since The Last Supper.
