After being censored for the pseudo mini-porn video that was "Pussy" and the controversies surrounding the single "Ich Tu Dir Weh" (I Hurt You) and a picture inside the album booklet displaying guitarist Richard Z. Kruspe spanking a chubby woman wearing only a mask, it seems that also two Rammstein live shows will be censored now.

In November the album Liebe Ist Für Alle Da got "indexed" by the German Federal Department for Media Harmful to Young Persons, making it illegal in Germany for minors to purchase the album, or display it where it can be seen by people underage, effectively banning it from stores. At the time, keyboardist Christian Lorenz expressed surprise at the advisory board's "parochial sense of art" and regretted their apparent inability to detect irony.

Now, the German Family Ministry authorities will not allow the band to perform any songs that have been indexed on both their Dortmund shows. Furthermore, the ministry demands each band member to sign a "written explanation before the concerts, that the indexed songs will indeed not be played." In case of violation, the band faces a fine of 10,000, per person. Public Order director Ortwin Schafer also stated that the Youth Protection Act will be put into force in conjunction with the police and "fans under 18 must be accompanied by parent or guardian of a person to attend the concert. Fans without a parent or guardian in attendance will be sent home."

Both concerts, each with over 10,000 attendees, are both sold out. Though the organizers tried to downplay the situation: "We have received no request of the public order of Dortmund", says Silvia Pape of "Concert Team NRW". However, there were already telephone contacts. Pape: "Once we have something on paper, we will forward it on to the management and the band. The final decision lies with the guys. "

Totally lame and stupid.
Bitter Dawn - 15.01.2010 at 04:42
Ah, they're just back to pulling publicity stunts to get recognized again. Bit of a shame because, they're actually quite a talented band.
-DC-002- - 15.01.2010 at 05:19
I good band wouldn't have to pull stuff like this.
jupitreas - 15.01.2010 at 07:36
This video was made with the sole purpose of being banned anyway. Mission fuckin accomplished.

That was kind of my thought when I first read about this. You create something that's quite obviously going to offend people, then start bitching and moaning as soon as people want to censor it. I'm against censorship, but c'mon people, is this really any surprise?
DayFly - 15.01.2010 at 13:51
OMFG, it's evil Bush censorship of equisite art and I'm offended that Lady Gaga sells records and looks hot doing it and Germany is now obviously under Republican control and blablabla.

The band's members are so full of themselves it's disgusting. A bit of humility (and declining record sales) would really suit them but if anything the opposite is bound to happen. Besides, as long as something is not promoting Nazism no real consequences ever happen in Germany so quit bitching.

Despite the fact that i disagree with the logic ''try something extereme in order to succeed a huge promotion'' that the band uses what you say is completely true and i couldn't find a better example than Lady Gaga to depict the politics of exceptions which rules the music industry

I'd love to see people in the free-world experience some level of censorship once in a while! Just for a change, you know.

You're right. This Rammstein thing is totally no censorship compared to what goes on in countries like Iran and China. Now they suffer censorship like no other.

Wanna hear a seriouse joke then?
Islamic (Un)republic censors wildlife documentaries when it comes to anything related to copulation as well as most of rituals.

Well, it actually doesn't surprise me at all. Christian boradcasters more or less censor the subtitles here as well. For example when the voice over says "millions of years ago" it has to be subtitled for them as "very long ago" because according to those Christian broadcasters the earth is about 5000 years old at most
parallax - 15.01.2010 at 17:29
Rammstein should just play the show as they intended. 10,000 each is nothing for them.

Go Rammstein!

When is the world gonna realise that sex isnt a bad thing and it doenst hurt someone thats like 16, guns kill people, not a dick goin in and out of a pussy, stupid morons ><

*cough*

AIDS.

25,000,000 dead worldwide. i'm guessing not all are a result of bad transfusions and shared needles.

i am not making any moral statements on either sex or violence here, simply pointing out what you and others have apparently missed... not sure how many people have died to gun violence over the past 30 years, but i'm willing to bet AIDS is in the same ballpark, if not ahead.

And some organizations predict 80,000,000 more HIV/AIDS deaths in Africa by 2025... if this comes to pass just "a dick goin in and out of a pussy" will have killed tens of millions more people than all off the horrors of WW2.

food for thought.

Dude i meant with protection and such, i thought that would be clear to all...

You do realise that I was being sarcastic? I don't give a damn about Lady Gaga, Rammstein or the alleged censorship. The whining is more obnoxious than any of those.

they should steal a page from an old hag's book for cheap and easy controversy... several years ago Madge the Vag made out with Britney Spears during one of those celutard bullshit pat-each-other-on-the-back-aren't-we-great award shows to try to keep herself kind of relevant.

being good, stout , German men, maybe they could convince The Hoff to let one of the bad members make out with him during some German Grammys (Germies) show or whatever. I'm sure The Hoff has a cheap asking price - maybe a box of cheap wine and a hamburger will be enough.
Thryce - 15.01.2010 at 19:18
To all the suckers who compare the "Pussy" video to the average Lady Gaga music video.

Don't be stupid. There a significant difference between explicit sex scenes and the stuff Lady Gaga is just hinting to. She can get away with it because she's only alluding to it. In contrast, the Rammstein clip didn't leave much to the imagination, and was indeed a plain porn video, destined to be censored sooner or later.

If you guys want to ban Lady Gaga records too because of its content, who's the real puritan pansy here?
Promonex - 15.01.2010 at 19:52
Uhh, the album didn't get banned for the video as the video isn't content of the album - the lyrics however are and that's what the German censorship is getting at. Please keep the video out of the discussion as that ain't got nothing to do with the censorship of the album and individual songs.
