Alestorm - Drummer Abandoned Ship
Alestorm drummer Ian Wilson bailed out his band... again. Here is Wilson's final statement:
"So aye, I quit Alestorm earlier this week because I'd basically just had enough of all the bullshit that goes with being in that band. I'm not going to divulge much information because I'm totally done with it. But I will say that for me I had nothing more to give to the band and had no time left for some of the people in Alestorm. So that was what my final decision was based on.
The positive from this is I can now focus all my attention on music I want to play! I've been writing material for my new band The Bloodless which I've formed with some old band mates from Catharist, and I've also been able to recruit my boy Pat Henry (Swashbuckle) on vocals which I'm excited about. We're playing some old school death metal inspired by shit like Hypocrisy, Entombed and Death Breath and I'm quite sure it's gonna be a success judging by the material we've got already!"

Of course, it could be what he meant, but he could also have meant there's no bad blood between the members, but he just doesn't 'want to be a pirate anymore'. "all the bullshit that goes with being in that band" could also mean he didn't like the fame, the interviews, the fans etc. But I don't really care, one way or another.  I just laughed at the news title.

A little drama from the Alestorm forum http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/alestorm/575554-wilson-left.html Chris Bowes: Yes, Ian quit the band, less than 24 hours before he was due to fly to the Netherlands to play the Paganfest shows. This is the 3rd time he's quit the band the day before having to fly out to a gig. This time we don't want him back, as we have a far better replacement who managed to step in at short notice and play the shows. His name is Pete Alcorn, and he used to be in Runecaster with Gazz. He is lovely. Ian Wilson: You flatter yourself with thinking I would want to go back to Alestorm you weird chimp! This is the perfect example of why I left the band because your head is lodged so far up your ass its unbelievable. The reason I didn't fly out to paganfest was because it was the same old farse that Alestorm is. You booked me on a flight to belgium with one bag! So aye, cool! i could take my pedals and fuck all clothes. I'm sure Pete is a lovely guy, because now he's one of your drones! I really hope people soon realise that you aren't a nice, fun guy! But infact a twisted, selfish, arragonat and useless.
