Pain Of Salvation - New Album In May, Samples Online

Original news, posted on 25.03.2010

Pain Of Salvation is tentatively scheduled to release its new album, Road Salt - Ivory, in Europe on May 19 via Insideout Music. Frontman Daniel Gildenlöw previously stated: "It is a 12-track album of sweaty grovel, asphalt butterflies, untreaded paths and brave decisions. It will be presented to the world in one standard edition and one limited director's cut, of which we, of course, recommend the latter one. See, as usual, we refuse to add some stuff haphazardly to put together a limited product ? we always see the larger version as the 'real' one; the one that makes us the proudest."

The cover artwork can be viewed here.

UPDATE (thanks to Arkaholic)

Quoted the band: "For those who are curious about the album can listen to the unique preview tracks that have been uploaded to our website - already today, even though the album is not scheduled for release until mid-May!"

The cover is not what I expected.. which is why I think the music on the album will be a fresh wind.

Hmm I wonder it will be real prog or mainstream alternative like Linoleum

I absolutely love Linoleum. I can hardly wait for Salt Road to come out, because judging by the EP, I won't be disappointed!

Linoleum was not as heavy or as progressive as some songs in the Perfect Element Pt1, but the songs are still awesome and they have a dark feeling to them. So if the new album sounds like that it will be awesome, too.

The EP was arguably progressive... Just not in the sense of their previous stuff. Besides, I think this band needs a fresh change (while keeping their trademark sound, of course). If it's anything like Linoleum, I'd say that they found a good change after the mix-bag experimental album that is Scarsick.

I wouldn't say I hate this cover art, but I can understand where you are coming from. I think there could be a much better cover.

Haha what's more progressive than a band that re-invents itself after every album!

Previews can be listened to here: http://snowfish.com/PainOfSalvation/ (I think its in Swedish, unless it changes depending on location). In my opinion, this might be able to contend with Ark in my expectations on the best album of the year.

Judging by the previews, this should be great. Daniel reminds me of Robert Plant A LOT on Linoleum and these previews... Which is a good thing.
