The Big Four: Live From Sonisphere - More DVD Details Surfacing
More and more details are surfacing regarding the The Big Four: Live From Sonisphere 2010 concert that is being released on Blu-Ray, DVD, DVD Deluxe Version via Universal Music in the UK and Europe on October 11th and Universal Japan on October 13th. A North American release date is expected on October 12th.
According to BW&BK sources, the Deluxe edition DVD Box set includes five CD's featuring each band's entire live set. The Deluxe Edition also features an event poster, posters from each band (four posters) and guitar pick (subject to change). The Box size: 20.5 x 15 x 4cm (subject to change).
The package documents the landmark tour where Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax played together for the first time in their history. The Big Four: Live From Sonisphere 2010 contains footage from the Sonisphere Festival at Sofia, Bulgaria in front of 100,000 fans this past June 22nd. The night also featured the legendary jam cover of the Diamond Head classic "Am I Evil?" by all bands.

Cool, but it isn't a setlist from Bemowo. Maybe it is from Sofia? Yeah, in Warsaw it was the first Big 4 show ever, but there was no "Am I Evil?" (it was in Bulgaria, in Poland we had "Stone Cold Crazy"), there was no "Harvester of Sorrow" (instead "The Four Horsemen" - there is an official clip of it in Metallica's page). So something is not right. You should correct that news, 'cos that night DID NOT featured the legendary jam cover of the Diamond Head classic "Am I Evil?" by all bands. I know, I was there  And there is a typo in "Seek and Destroy"

Yep, I am confused too... The night that contained the jam cover of "Am I Evil", was 22nd June at Sofia. It wasnt played at the June 16th show in Poland. Also, the setlist that Megadeth played in Sofia was very different to the one listed there. And Anthrax played 10 songs, not 8. Something is amiss. lol

Written by Thryce on 15.08.2010 at 15:25 I know the show in Bulgaria was the one that was shown in cinemas. Although none of the bands had their full sets shown, and it wasnt truly "live". But the concensus was that the full sets were recorded for a future DVD. The Megadeth setlist in Sofia in particular, is very different to the one they've listed as being on the DVD. Minor heart attacks? Don't be so melodramatic.

I watched the concert when it was played at the theatre, the crowd at Sofia is probably the lamest ever. The four bands gave up fucking great performances and almost everybody was standing still, even with Metallica. I mean, what's wrong with them? It's a thrash metal concert, the wildest musical style ever, you're supposed to mosh 'til your limbs fall out.

But for a thrash DVD, it would have been more exhilarating if they did pick an audience that had some wild pits going. Watching any show on screen one already feels removed from it, and the energy of the show audience can make one feel included if they're wild for the music. Did the Big Four do a similar tour/show in the States? Would be much more sense to release a DVD of a domestic gig, as a tribute to US fans who made 'em big to begin with, on local grounds. THEN there would have been so much moshing and mayhem in the audience that National Guard woulda had to be called...

I was THERE and I can assure you that nearly every one was singing alone. Moreover, Bulgarian audience is loved by all metal bands, just like Latin American one is. There were actually many people headbanging and moshing. How come you didn't happen to see any of them?! Anyway. It's important to have your own opinion but insulting other fans with plain 'evidence' is simply lame. Next time you wanna try to convince somebody that Bulgarian metalheads suck...well, then you should first take a look at some serious live footage from Bulgaria. That's gotta be a reason why so famous metal bands such as the ones from The Big Thrash 4 have shot their DVD's in Bulgaria, right?P.S.: Manowar even achieved a Guinness record at a concert in Kavarna.
