Atheist are gradually revealing more and more details about the new album Jupiter, the band's first studio release in 17 years. The album is tentatively due in November, under the heading of Season Of Mist, with a world tour to follow. Album recordings took place in July at LedBelly recording studios in Atlanta, GA with Matt Washburn. Jason Suecof (Chimaira, Trivium) was responsible for the mixing.

As reported last week, the bass tracks were not recorded by Tony Choy but by guitarist Jonathan Thompson, who is also the bassist in Gnostic.

Before entering the studio, vocalist Kelly Shaeferstated: "It's ferocious, intelligent, and dead balls heavy as shit! When people hear this they're going to say, 'It's Atheist!'". More reactions of the band can be found on this page.

Jupiter [cover art] tracklist:

01. Second To Sun
02. Fictitious Glide
03. Fraudulent Cloth
04. Live And Live Again
05. Faux King Christ
06. Tortoise The Titan
07. When The Beast
08. Third Person

Atheist have revealed the cover artwork for the upcoming Jupiter album. The artwork was created by Eliran Kantor. The album will be released on November 8 via Season Of Mist.

A bit awkward song titles, but we'll see.

Yeah, "Faux King Christ"? Pretty lame.

Good thing I don't judge songs by their titles. And it's Atheist, so there's bound to be something good on this album.

Well I think the titles are sweet. And it's Atheist. That's as near a guarantee of quality as you'll ever find in metal.
Elio - 18.08.2010 at 18:22
I don't give a flying duck about titles, just hope the music will be awesome
Daydream Nation - 18.08.2010 at 19:57
I can't fucking wait.
Angelic Storm - 18.08.2010 at 20:13
Really looking forward to this one! xD Its a shame about Tony Choy leaving though, he's a monster bass player.

Fraudulent Cloth? Wonder whether it refers to the Shroud of Turin...

If this album disapoints me, I will be quite... disapointed. Maybe I should have thought that sentence through a bit more. But its atheist. If it disapoints, the world will end. Although yeah, faux king christ is quite possibly one of the gayest song titles of all time.

What happened to "YYZ"?
!J.O.O.E.! - 02.09.2010 at 00:53
Album cover's a bit throwaway. Should be an interesting listen anyway.
vezzy - 02.09.2010 at 00:58
Yeah, kind of cluttered.
bard - 02.09.2010 at 01:08
I appreciate that it still looks like an Atheist cover, rather than changing to some modern looking logo.
Darkside Momo - 02.09.2010 at 01:11
I really like the cover.
But, as previously asked, where's the YYZ cover?
Introspekrieg - 02.09.2010 at 01:39
Elements had "cluttered" cover artwork too... let's hope the music follows this pattern.
Got Mayhem? - 02.09.2010 at 01:54
That's just about one of the most badass covers I've seen in awhile.
insanity.peppers - 02.09.2010 at 04:44
"the bass tracks were not recorded by Tony Choy but by guitarist Jonathan Thompson, who is also the bassist in Gnostic."

Fuck i love irony.

And that cover is incredible. Absolutely incredible.
Daydream Nation - 02.09.2010 at 05:19
Best cover of 2010 so far.
Arcticus - 02.09.2010 at 07:40
There was supposed to be a cover of YYZ? *jizz*
K†ulu - 02.09.2010 at 11:24
I guess the last mention of Atheist covering YYZ was way back in 2008. http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=102858
That would be sweet though.

The artwork is epic I must say even if I don't fully get what's going on there.
BloodTears - 02.09.2010 at 14:35
The cover is interesting, let's put it that way.
worship_non - 22.09.2010 at 01:59
