Trent Reznor - Wins Golden Globe For Best Original Score

Nine Inch Nails mainman Trent Reznor and frequent NIN collaborator Atticus Ross (also How To Destroy Angels) have won a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score for their compositions on The Social Network, the 2010 film about Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook.

The Golden Globes were presented last night. The Social Network was nominated six times and won four Golden Globes, including Best Motion Picture, Best Director and Best Screenplay.

The Social Network soundtrack album was released in October by The Null Corporation, Reznor's own independent record label. A five track sampler EP is available for download at the whopping price of your e-mail address at this location.

According to Billboard, while accepting the award, Reznor said, "A year ago I had no idea I'd have the opportunity to score a film. The idea of standing up here to accept this award is surreal."

Shortly after winning, Reznor Tweeted, "Holy shit!"

Earlier this year, Reznor announced the duo would once again be collaborating with The Social Network director David Fincher by composing the score to the US film adaptation of the bestselling novel The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, set for release in late 2011.

In my top3 of 2010 movies for sure, the OST was good too, and I can't remember many others who would have deserved the award, so fair play.

pff, aren't they all? in this commercial world, you can only depend on the metal people to remain 100% honest and true to themselves, right?

Well, good for him! Trent is a great composer and has done much exemplary work in his career. Receiving an award for composing what is considered the "Best Original Score" is quite an honorable accomplishment.

Why is he a sellout? because he did the soundtrack for a movie? it's just work after all, it means that he is a respected musician. The music of the movie was very nicely done, gave the movie a good atmosphere. I dunno, calling him a sellout is just a tad too much.
