Epica keyboard player Coen Janssen will not be joining the band on the upcoming 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise and the Latin American dates in early February.

Janssen explains: "As you might know, Linda, my wife, and I are expecting our first child. The due date happens to be around the same time as the cruise. As you might understand, I will stay at home since I don't want to miss the birth of my first child."

Joining Epica on keyboards for these show will be Oliver Palotai (Kamelot, Sons Of Seasons), friend of the band and the right man for the job because of his amazing talent.

Thank goodness. For a while there, I thought I'd stepped into a parallel universe or something... hehe

Both Oliver Palotai and Coen Jansen are fucking amazing players with classical piano roots and hell of techniques that can stand for any hard piece.
But Palotai is so lucky since he'll join his gf in this nice trip, it would be hell of a trip

He's always the replacement it seems. And even if Coen was playing 70000 Tons, he was still going to be on the boat.

Oliver Palotai is pretty good, the other time Epica had the North American Tour (02/2010) he was also the keyboardist.
Almagest - 11.02.2011 at 20:22
That was one predictable choice for a replacement keyboardist, indeed.
