That sample is not half bad actually. Think I will need to check this album out.

I thought the documentary was excellent and I admire Anvil's tenacity, but their music is most definitely not for me.

All anyone ever will need by Anvil is Metal On Metal and Forged In Fire. Those two are classics, but that's it and even there the lyrics are cheesy as hell. Imo it's the totally juvenile lyrics that prevented them from breaking big on the back of Forged In Fire.

yup. i also surely wouldn't mind listening to Anvil's albums one each month for example, but they are just way too repetitive for me to get back to them every time. they've been evidently stuck playing this 80s metal and they can't seem to move on. imo after their documentary the best way to honor their legacy would be to just announce a farewell tour and that's it. but then again Lips is way too stoked on playing music for that to happen.

that didn't happen, so i guess i'll just ignore this band's latest releases from now on.

I think it didn't help, indeed. Such childish lyrics are nearly enough to turn me away from a band.

Some of Anvil's lyrics are absolutely abysmal! And they're not meant to be a joke band, or at least I don't think so. But it's incredibly hard to take them seriously at all. They are totally Spinal Tap, although they aren't a parody band, unlike Tap.

Musically, I find some of their stuff to be good, if a bit generic and unimaginative. Ive heard some good stuff by them, but overall their stuff is a bit samey for me to listen to them regularly...
