Dio Disciples - European Tour Dates

Former Dio band members Rudy Sarzo (bass), Simon Wright (drums), Craig Goldy (guitar) and Scott Warren (keyboards) will join forces with singers Tim "Ripper" Owens (Yngwie Malmsteen, Judas Priest, Iced Earth) and Toby Jepson (Little Angels, Gun) to play a number of shows in Europe under the moniker Dio Disciples.

Because of Sarzo's commitment to Blue Öyster Cult, James Lomenzo (Megadeth, Black Label Society) will join the band for the European dates until Rudy becomes available.

Ronnie James Dio's widow and manager Wendy recently said the following about this project: "There will never be another Ronnie, but we want to keep his music alive and hope you will support the band and become one of the Dio Disciples."

North American tour plans will be announced later.

Holy Diver is not a hard song to sing at all. Stargazer or Don't Talk To Strangers is a bigger challenge...

Not Ripper, but a good cover of Holy Diver. It can be done.

This is nice. Too bad I live in such a small and insignificant country that no one remembers us. But it's good to know they're making the effort to keep Dio's music eternal.

It is a cash grab, probably, but at least they had something to do with Dio's success and helped him on his musical journey, unlike he who shall not be named, but who's first name is the same as the name of the dumbest character on Friends.

They're doing it with the blessing of Wendy, so I don't see a problem at all.

I'd definitely be interested in seeing this, the Dio band with Ripper covering Dio songs sounds like it could be awesome. Im a bit perplexed at Toby Jepson's inclusion in this though... I havent heard anything from him since the Little Angels were popular here in the early-mid 90's. lol

Agreed, and James Lomenzo is playing bass (at least some of the time). So sounds like a awesome tour.

Everything he doesn't like is metalcore. Britney Spears, Elton John, Michael Moore, and green beans are also metalcore, in case you guys didn't know.

I honestly would have preferred if Jorn Lande would have joined instead of Ripper, but idk is he doing anything with Heaven and Hell at the moment, or was that tribute show a one time only thing?

It may not be a hard song to sing if you're a good vocalist...

For once, I won't be complaining that a so-called "European tour" has no French dates.. I wouldn't have attended anyway. I'm not interested in hearing this musical rape..
