Korn - Update On New Dubstep Album

More good news from the Korn camp. After their collaboration single with hotter-than-hot Los Angeles dubstep DJ Skrillex, Korn are planning to release a dubstep studio album, expected to dominate the charts later this year.

Speaking to NME this weekend, Korn bassist Fieldy said the band was almost finished with the follow-up to 2010's Korn III: Remember Who You Are: "We've collaborated with six, maybe seven dubstep producers on the new record. I've done my parts, I think Jonathan Davis has a couple of vocal takes still to do, but it's almost done."

These dubstep producers/DJ includes such names as Kill The Noise, Excision, Skillets and 12th Planet.

Fieldy also said Jonathan Davis is responsible for inspiring the band's new dubstep direction. "Jonathan loved it," he said, "and he just got us into it." He added that the band felt it "was important to stay current and keep on top of what's going on."

In the meantime, check out Korn's collaboration single "Get Up" featuring Skrillex below.

This isn't even really a Korn song. I swear I've heard this song at a bar that I went to a few weeks ago, without the Korn vocals of course, leading me to believe that it's just a Skrillex song that's got Jonathan Davis' vocals dubbed over it with maybe some bass guitar. It doesn't sound that bad though, I've definitely heard worse.

After finally returning to their crunchy original sound, Korn decides to take a regressive step? I am quite disappointed but not surprised.

Although Korn III was not an amazing album by any means, at the very least it marked Korn's return to original form. Yes, the lyrics were very juvenile, and not many of the songs were memorable: however, it helped Korn to climb out of the generic-sounding shit hole they had found themselves in. Unfortunately, a step like this undoes what Korn III did, plummeting Korn into the shit hole they were previously in.

No, it's like when kids are arguing who has the best toy and competing, here it's like a competition who will have the most witty and sarcastic commentary.... Everybody hates KoRn but boy do these guys get commented on A LOT!

Heh, I understand although I do give myself the right to comment and give a sarcasm comment if I want or not considering that I do enjoy their old stuff a lot. But I don't have any witty comments atm so I'm just going to be honest: he song is kind of awful...
The "important to stay current and keep on top of what's going on" was kind of a "lol" as well.

I share your thoughts. Hell, I use sarcasm too when commenting, but I just read the whole topic and I LOL'd so hard And I like KoRn, it doesn't uspset me, it's just fun.... KoRn ft. Lady GaGa for example Brilliant
Get Up doesn't thrill me either, except for the chorus.... I love that part of the song, too bad the rest of the song isn't consistent with it. I fisrt heard this song live and it sounded much better than the recorded version. And I think this dubstep album is going to be a disaster, but ok, I'll just wait and hear for myself.

If I hear a worse track this year from a classic metal band than "Too Extreme!", I'll dye my hair blue!

No you won't.

"Too Extreme" is by far the worst song this year, and yes Too Extreme beats all the tracks on Lulu.

Yes I will.

"Lulu" isn't a real Metallica album, so I don't really count that. But even so... yep, if I had to, I'd rather listen to "The View" than "Too Extreme!"

I wasn't really expecting anything good from the Metallica/Lou Reed project, so I wasn't really disappointed by it. "Too Extreme!" on the other hand, was a shock to the system because it was so unexpected. (although I did fear David Vincent would allow his time in Genitorturers to influence MA's music) I really hate techno music, and to hear one of the classic death metal bands of all time playing stuff like that... was really disapponting, and more than a bit shocking. My total aversion to techno music means that "The View" is infinitely more listenable, as woeful as it is.
