A legacy comes to an end, long-running US power metal act Jag Panzer disbands.

After more than three decades of delivering heavy metal to the masses, Jag Panzer have decided to call it quits.

"We are proud of every album we released and the support we received from the heavy metal community," states guitarist and founder Mark Briody. "We've played so many places around the world and enjoyed every minute of it but the time has come where we just cannot move forward as a band."

Guitarist Christian Lasegue left the band last month to pursue his degree full time. "Christian did an amazing job on The Scourge of the Light and it was a pleasure working with him," continues Briody. "We wished Christian well but kept this quiet until we found a replacement."

Drummer Rikard Stjernquist says: "Several guitar players applied for the job. It was a pleasant surprise to see so many young guitarists with advanced chops. One player, 19 year old Jake Dreyer, submitted videos of him nailing solos from both Chris Broderick and Christian Lasegue. We were ready to welcome Jake into the band but unfortunately that will not happen. There is no doubt in any of our minds that Jake will go on to be a household name in his own right."

Bassist John Tetley adds a final statement: "In closing, we'd like to send out a huge heartfelt THANK YOU to metal fans throughout the world. You all rule!"

Very sad news. I just got into them with the new album and now they're gone? Sucks. I'm glad it ended on a positive note but I felt like they were headed towards their greatest glory yet, even without Broderick.

I'll definitely be looking out for whatever each member does next.

I was actually talking to Mark Briody on Facebook about this a couple weeks ago... I knew it was coming, but I was kinda hoping they'd be able to convince Harry not to be such a douche bag... unfortunately that didn't happen... such stupid bullshit...

Aww, that sucks. Just as soon I was getting into them too. Never got to see them live or anything. We need more USPM styled bands too.

This is a shame, great band and would've loved to see them live one day.

@Holy Man, curious, what did Harry do? I don't really know much about Jag outside of their actual Music and the article doesn't mention him?

Damn, along with Helstar they kept the flame of US Power Metal burning... It feels like I've lost a parent....

That's really a shame ...I really enjoyed Jag Panzer. I guess all good things must come to an end.

"Thane to the Throne" was one of the best albums ever made. This is a real shame; I loved the Tyrant's voice.

the tyrant is to blame?

...And as is typical, I decide to check out a band I constantly heard about but never cared to listen until they broke up, and turns out they kick ass. This is dildos.
Introspekrieg - 26.07.2011 at 09:02
Glad I was able to see them a few months ago, nice guys even came out to meet all the kids that were there just to see them.

Shame to hear, a classic!
DrunkenFuck - 26.07.2011 at 17:49
But WHY?
Holy Man - 26.07.2011 at 20:08
Yeah, apparently he's just making every excuse in the book as to why he can't do shows and shit. They've cancelled so many shows that promoters dont wanna deal with em anymore. He cancelled this last one because the label wouldn't fly him out business class instead of coach...
Kingface - 26.07.2011 at 21:25
Ah man, that sucks big time!
Stabby - 27.07.2011 at 02:29
Damnit, Harry. Ah well I guess he's earning his stage name.

I only truly realize how much this news hurts me when I realized that I completely missed the new Blind Guardian news because of this one.

RIP JP
