They wouldn't. They also play watered-down metal; almost rock. It is the poppy rock sound combined with Simone's beauty that gives Epica a HUGE boost in popularity. Take Imperia, for example, a METAL band with an extremely hot woman that receives very little attention. |

Yeah... there's a lot beauties singing in the symphonic/gothic genre but only a few of them have managed to stand out -like Simone does. Melissa Ferlaak or Floor Jansem (just to name a few) are as hot and talented as Simone but their bands are average or even poor in quality -BTW, Imperia isn't that bad.
I would say in her case, it's not only that she's very talented and hot but also there's a lot of people arround her making Epica the best symphonic act.
As for the new release, I say it was about time  |

The only reason why Epica are popular are because of the no-talent Ms. Simons. I saw them live at Wacken and by the first song she was already winding out. NOT a good sign. Plus I hear she's turned into quite the diva. Then there's that pussyass Mark Jansen who due to his behavior has had his own ass handed to him a handful of times so far, once being here in NYC for grabbing up on some woman who punched him right in the mouth. Then her boyfriend bitchslapped him about like a rag doll before tossing him to the concrete. Meanwhile far superior bands like Therion and Bare Infinity do well elsewhere besides here in the States which reflects the poor taste of people here. |

Actually i saw them live in my home city (Lisbon), and i thought she delivered an excellent performance, along with the rest of the band. Well all the bands have good days and bad days, maybe in that day in Wacken the band wasn´t so good for some reason. Tours can be very long and exhausting, and that fact can result in bad performances sometimes unfortunetly. |

The problem with Simone is, that she can not hear herself properly on stage when singing.
On the concert she sang a bit a of tune from time to time, but when she sang the quiet song we were all just WTF :O :O :O, she sang perfectly, and after then again a bit out of tune when the metal songs were played. |

| The Divine Conspiracy is a great album, but the only other album from them that I've heard, Cosign To Oblivion, sounded almost as much pop as metal. And of course, if Simone looked like this , nobody would care about Epica. |

| Great news! The last album was pretty awesome, and had very nice progressive elements. Let's hope they make something as unique. |

I think that Epica is one of the few female-fronted Symphonic Metal band that actually has some sustenance behind them. I like their music and the fact that they seem to actually put effort on songwriting and lyrics.
I saw them live last year at a very small venue here in the U.S. and they played extremely well and were very friendly. My main problem with the band is with Simone. It feels almost like she is wasting her own talent by not pursuing a formal education. I don't mean that she is not good, just that she could have been much better. |

Interesting to see how they will follow the last album. That was their strongest one so far.
I hope they do not go for the commercial sound. I don't think they will as Mark still has control and his last project was pretty heavy. |

| I hope more of that awesome growling / Simone stuff goes into this record, and more riffage too. I wish they do not pursue more of the Evanescence-like, more commercial shit as we've seen in "Unleashed" (which, don't get me wrong, is not a bad song). More awesome songs like "Resign to Surrender". Gogogo! |

| I think their music was generally crap before the last album. but the last album was amazing, they finally nailed the energy and aggression part of metal which was thoroughly lacking before, so hopefully this album will be in the same vein. Cant wait! |
