Circus Maximus - Reveal New Album Details

Frontiers Records has announced the release of the new album from Norwegian progressive metallers Circus Maximus, entitled Nine, on June 1st in Europe and June 5th in North America. You can listen to a sample from the new song "Reach Within" here. "Reach Within" will be released as a digital single on April 27th.

Truls Haugen commented: "The majority of the material on the new record was written by Mats Haugen and he has taken the music to a kind of simpler and more accessible approach, yet kept the progressive elements and the 'nerve' that is Circus Maximus. We're actually more melodic and heavier on this new record than we've ever been."

"A lot happened in our personal lives during the past few years. Three of us had kids, plus we also had a several bumps in the road with the production. So it has not exactly been a joyride, but it feels great to finally be done, and after all this time we are ready to unleash our new monster!"

Nine tracklist:

01. Forging
02. Architect Of Fortune
03. Namaste
04. Game Of Life
05. Reach Within
06. I Am
07. Used
09. The One
10. Burn After Reading
11. Last Goodbye

Been waiting for this one for a long time, although can't complain really as many of the members have had children and other personal things to deal with... and it's still not as bigger wait as the new Wintersun album!!!!

It would be awesome if they came to each of our towns.

What the hell is this?

Now, I can get aiming to a broader audience, after all they ARE in the business for making money, but honestly I couldn't tell the difference between their sample and a generic garage rock band.

I was actually looking forward to this album, but after hearing the sample I'm beginning to have doubts. This is no longer the Circus Maximus I knew and loved. Wait, maybe they've retained the progressive edge with some clever lyrics?

"It's time to face your fears"
"Looking back you've always found a reason for the easy way out"

Eh... no. Nor was it ever their strong side anyways.

can one decide such a thing just by listening to a sample? Samples are misleading and irrelevant.

Totally agree.
Hope this is the only song on the album like this.
I don't like their previous albums a lot, but this sample is a bit annoying,
specially the keyboard + vocal melodies.
Anyway, It can be a change in priorities after all!

Kinda blows my hopes that the vocalist could be a good pick for the Kamelot slot...I'm tired of waiting to see who that will be. But tonally, his lows and mids are PERFECT, and his highs are just unique enough to give the guys a rejuvinated sound. Dammit.

Yeah, we think the same really but CM are a good band so it's not a loss.

As for judging by a sample... I don't do that.

No, I didn't mean anything about the sample at all. It's just that when a group is all excited about their new stuff, it typically means that that is what they are focusing on...which is why I don't think we'll be seeing him in Kamelot.
