US death metal act Nile has revealed the cover artwork of their upcoming album At The Gate Of Sethu, produced by Seth Siro Anton (Soilwork, Paradise Lost, Septicflesh), which can be seen below. The new album will be released in Europe on June 29th and in the US on July 3rd via Nuclear Blast Records.

Band mastermind, Karl Sanders, commented: "Seth Siro Anton has designed the cover. I have been a fan of Septicflesh [for] a long time, and as Seth expressed interest, I knew that he would deliver a great job. I would say his work is easily the best we've ever had. He has captured the darker side of the sound of Nile and reflected the music and ideas, the heart and soul of Nile are forming. Seth is a very talented man and understands exactly who we are."

Seth Siro Anton stated: "It is no secret that I admire the powerful stylistic lines of the magical symbols that still transmit the aura of ancient Egypt, preserving in time the ancient mysteries. Also, I am fascinated from the final frozen moment of the flesh captured in an eternal sleeping stasis, at the completion of the mummification process. So, with a great pleasure I accepted the challenge, to visualize the new masterpiece of Nile At The Gate Of Sethu."

*Looks quickly at the artwork*
- This looks like Seth's work...
*Reads the article*
- Of course.

Good as always. I don't have a lot of interest after the last two albums they released but I'll check this out.
vezzy - 27.04.2012 at 21:07
Pretty decent. Definitely feels desolate and bleak.
Dark Blood - 27.04.2012 at 21:10
I love Seth's work in general, but this one looks damn better than what he's done lately. Might be a good album to check out as well.
Alex Fenger - 27.04.2012 at 21:17
This looks sick
Dark†SymphonY - 27.04.2012 at 21:47
Nice cover, Since their last album was awesome, I will definitely check this out soon.
Mr. Doctor - 27.04.2012 at 21:59
I really like the artwork but just like I was discussing with my fella Joe... The light seems awkward here.
morsus - 27.04.2012 at 22:20
Wow! just wow!

SSM - 27.04.2012 at 22:58
It's pretty obvious that this is Seth's, but this one have a Nile feel and symbols in it.
Decent artwork overall.

Its the same problem with the latest Morbid Angel, It looks very "synthetic" like it was done on a computer.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Spiros Antoniou usually paint his stuff by hand?
midland_don - 28.04.2012 at 00:54
Maybe wait until you see the actual printed product before passing judgement??! A lot can be done with the printing to enhance the artwork, and at the end of the day this is only a screen-res jpg FFS!!!

In my opinion some of the scorpions and scarabs have indeed been copy + pasted. Right click and open the image to get a larger version then look at the creatures. To me it looks as though they've simply reduced the size and direction of some of them.

Yes he does. But it's possible that there is some photoshop work as well, actually I doubt there is a single cover art that doesn't have some PS touches here and there. But nonetheless, he still got the credits.

Haven't all of Nile's album covers pretty much been designed by Photoshop?

But I like this, yet not greatly as I don't think there's ever been an excellent Nile cover, but at lest nice/ decent looking ones. The gold does contrast nicely within, very subtle.

Actually for a fuck-up, isn't that Thoth on the cover, not Seth?
MaiSweettShaadow - 28.04.2012 at 02:04

Yep, that's Thoth.
AngelofDeth - 28.04.2012 at 03:43
I usually like Seth's artwork but this one is meh. Just feels awkward and not entirely interesting.
Dark Cornatus - 28.04.2012 at 04:10
Disregarding how the cover is made (i really don't care), it looks great. Actually, I'd even say it's brilliant. The colours and shades work well and it has good symmetry.
Amatsu Mikaboshi - 28.04.2012 at 06:39
Actually now, besides the gold-spot. I am starting to like this cover alot less.....
Cynic Metalhead - 28.04.2012 at 07:39
Once the Seth has covered up the Septicflesh's artwork, don't you think after that he's raising the bar of "I do suck now"?

On Nile artwork- background same as SF's "The Great Mass". color choice same as fuck we saw lot of times.

Give it a look on this
LeChron James - 28.04.2012 at 08:01
I don't think its Egyptian enough.

At least the Nile artwork isn't as shitty as latest Septic Flesh and Moonspell. Man do those suck BIG time and some people actually like that shit.

Fritillaria - 28.04.2012 at 13:33
There is nothing special in this artwork, just the same as what always Seth does.
Abattoir - 28.04.2012 at 14:15
I never liked their album artworks particularly and this one is no exception.
Butters49 - 29.04.2012 at 04:38
Nice. Very cool artwork indeed. Cannot wait for this one
Troy Killjoy - 29.04.2012 at 05:40
Pretty decent, although I've never cared for their artwork. I'm more concerned with the music.
Black Conundrum - 02.05.2012 at 03:10
The artwork fits Nile perfectly; freaking sweet.
BoxCar Willy - 02.05.2012 at 03:15
Meh.
ThunderAxe1989 - 02.05.2012 at 03:32
Nice very dark
Nosurper - 08.05.2012 at 01:05
I have nothing smart to say, just hope that they can follow up their last in similar fashion. I probably listen to Those Whom the Gods Detest more than their older stuff
Apothecary - 08.05.2012 at 18:15
Why is Thoth on the cover if it's At The Gate Of Sethu?
