Swiss folk metallers Eluveitie have announced the release of a new double-CD package named The Early Years on August 17th, 2012. This package will include, as you may have guessed, songs from Eluveitie's early years. To be more exact, all titles from the very first EP Vên as well as the complete debut album Spirit, both of which have remained sold out for some time now.

The band will completely re-record the full EP Vên, again with producer and good friend Tommy Vetterli at the Newsound studios (where Helvetios was produced as well). And on top of that, they will self-release a special edition of The Early Years that will feature a never before released song called "Divico" - also newly recorded within the last few weeks. This edition (physical as well as digital) will be available exclusively through the band's own online store and at their live shows. The new track will not be included in the standard retail version.

Frontman Chrigel Glanzmann states: "The Early Years will give both old and new fans access to the very first steps in Eluveitie's history. I can't believe it's been 10 years already! Speaking of that, to celebrate our 10 year anniversary (2002-2012) we wanted to offer you something special. Therefore we have decided to re-record the tracks of our first EP Vên! We had a lot of fun putting those songs on tape again - some of which we have been playing live to this day and that have developed together with us over all these years."

Further information on this release will follow soon.

Vên was the EP that introduced me to them, and I always thought it could use some adjustment in the future, those guys are smart. Keep it real Eluveitie!

No compilation is ever necessary u.u

Anyway it's cool 'cause these are two good albums with a lower recording quality than they have now. That's why bands like so much to re-record. I aprove
