Kamelot - New Album Artwork Unveiled

American symphonic metallers Kamelot have unveiled their new album's artwork, created by Stefan Heilemann, which can be seen below. The new opus Silverthorn will be released on October 30th in North America, October 26th in Germany and October 29th in the rest of Europe via Steamhammer/SPV. It will receive its Japanese release on October 24th via King Records.

The LP and limited edition will have one version of the art, while the standard version will have a different artwork. The standard version is presented as an Ecolbook. The limited edition contains the Ecolbook, a bonus CD with nearly 60 minutes of music, a 44 page book and an exclusive poster. The double LP version is a gatefold on colored vinyl and includes the CD.

Guitarist Thomas Youngblood said about the artwork: "Artist Stefan Heilemann captured the true essence of the story and the main character. The booklet and 44 page book is packed with amazing images!"

Meh cover. Smells like Ghost Opera. I honestly hope the content is better.

I don't really like Kamelot's artwork in general, I'm just curious for the music.

Typical girlfriend metal artwork, could easily be re-used for Nightwish, Epica, etc.

Take a look at their discog - this may be bleeding standard but everything before this was pretty atrocious, so it's a step up

That could be because the artist they used also did some Epica covers, if I'm not mistaken.

That being said, I think it looks fine, as long as it's not atrocious I'm fine with it. I rather like the colour scheme. Right now I'm more excited/concerned about the music... if it ends up being good, I really want that limited edition.

I think "The Black Halo" was the only good album artwork they've ever had.... not sure if I'm biased because I heard the album before or what. Regardless, album artwork is irrelevant, have you seen the cover of "Thriller"?

Mr. Karevik is btw pretty awesome live. On Masters of Rock 2012 I even heard new song from this album. It could be interesting surprise on October.

Lol this doesn't resemble ghost opera at all. Just because it's a chick on there? The Ghost Opera cover is dark, but it isn't really "gothic". It's theatrical, and she looks like a gypsy if anything. Silverthorn is definitely too hot topic looking though. She looks like she's posing for a high-school senior photo. It is super high quality and I like the colors, so I'll give it that. I enjoy all of their album art, really. Poetry wasn't that great since it looked like it'd be a industrial trace CD or something, but it was still great quality. Gotta say Ashes To Ashes, Torn and Falling Like The Fahrenheit are pretty lame titles, but I really can't wait to hear the CD.
