AFM Records had hinted to a new Masterplan line-up reveal a few days ago and now Masterplan has officially announced that Rick Altzi (At Vance, Thunderstone, Epysode) will be the band's new vocalist, replacing Jørn Lande, and Jari Kainulainen (ex-Stratovarius) will take over bass duties. The band is currently recording their new album to be released next year.
The band left the following message, without explaining much, on their official website: "The new members in the band are Rick Altzi on vocals and Jari Kainulainen on bass guitar! (Of course the website will be updated very soon...)."
I lost interest in this band when Uli Kusch left... Man, they had a killer line-up in the beginning: Grapow, Kusch, Warman, Lande... Now it's just an "another power metal band".

Jorn is one of my favourite vocalists, so I don't think I'd ever like this, but there you go, that's where I stand on the matter. Still, at least Mr. Lande is one of those guys who does things with everybody who'll let him into a studio with them, so I won't have to wait too long to hear him again.
Altzi is a great singer, check this out!
However, I'm also disappointed in this line-up change. Jørn has a certain magic that I think was missing in "MK II".
Although I like Altzi's vocal duties, I have to say I would prefer Jorn Lande anytime of the day, but oh well, they have great musicians and their style isn't that one of "just another power metal band", so I hope the best for their new album.
I don't care about Jorn, it's just the songs on the first 2 are great. I liked MK II and vocally it's great. So this an be a good album although I'm not sure Rick is the best choice...
Altzi is not the best singer ever, but he is clearly better than his predecessor. I can not stand Landes voice, therefore, I think this is good news. Does anyone know why Jörn left the band?
Well, MK III was a decent album despite Jorn not being at the helm, but Mike DeMio was a very good singer even if he wasn't as distinctive as Jorn. I'm still interested in hearing the new album, but certainly much less so now that I know Jorn is no longer in the band.
