Oh man how I miss those old-school album covers....drawings, paintings. Not this digital s..t
BlackDuff - 05.12.2012 at 17:03
Almost as bad as the new Helloween artwork imo
R'Vannith - 05.12.2012 at 17:21
Don't think you can compare the two really. Pumpkins and hand grenades don't leave me quite as turned on as an angel with a golden complexion. Oh and she has a sword, that'll come in handy in that nuclear apocalypse going on there.
atkmetal123 - 05.12.2012 at 17:29
Ok so 2 out of the Power Metal 3 Pioneers is having one of the worst album cover ever, I'm still glad that Blind Guardian didn't follow this ''trend''.
Risto - 05.12.2012 at 17:55
My first reaction to that album cover was a chuckle after seeing the EP artwork.
chronic-headache - 05.12.2012 at 18:30
Am I the only one who likes the cover art? Yeah it's CGI, and it's not the same as the older handdrawn stuff, but different =/= bad

and the song sounds pretty good, much heavier than past stuff.
Sangre Sani - 05.12.2012 at 19:12
Even tits doesn't make this cover look better.

I've been commissioned to do the next Sonata Arctica album cover.

I know it's not the same band but I'm pretty sure you can do a better job. Urgh

(another reason to quote you is that I'm mean and I wanted you to look at this bullshit... pain shared is half the pain).
Alex Fenger - 05.12.2012 at 19:26
So many shit album covers so little time
JÄY - 05.12.2012 at 19:34
Almost all album covers are digital now... its 3D cg ones that suck (this one, new helloween)
ImperialTroll - 05.12.2012 at 19:40
Oh man that artowrk is just bad! I hope I won't feel the same about the music! I'm not gonna listen to that video I'll just listen to the whole album at once...

Special edition vinyl cover.

Special edition vinyl cover.

I see. Big size. It's easier to see details such as the middle one of the fire wizards doing a fist in the air for some reason.

If you destroyed an entire city you'd probably do a little air-first too.

Compared to the horrendous artwork for the reissue of Septicflesh's "Mystic Places Of Dawn", this isn't too bad, but it's not very good either. Probably slightly worse than the new Helloween artwork, as at least that one has pumpkins, and Jack Skellington in it.
BloodTears - 05.12.2012 at 20:18
I prefer Joe's cover.
Opethian - 05.12.2012 at 21:14
The Logo doesn't go with this art work
Ritual_Suicide - 05.12.2012 at 21:21
At least this one is finished. You can't say the same about the new Helloween album's cover.
Malaghost - 05.12.2012 at 22:55
Me likey. And cover is hawt.
Gopherhawk - 05.12.2012 at 23:07
If there was no angel and just an apocalypse it would be far better.

That only makes it seem even worse! If the Helloween cover is unfinished (where did you hear that from?), then at least there's an excuse for it looking lousy. Both covers are bad, but I'd take the Helloween one if I had to choose between the two. The only good thing about the Stratovarius cover is the fire... I really like how that looks, shame it wasn't part of an overall better artwork. I really loved the cover for their last album, "Elysium" which was actually quite beautiful. This one just looks very tacky in comparison...

Guys, listend to the clip provided , i have high enough hopes for it , i mean stratovarius's lyrics can be so unbearably cringeworthy you have to turn it off straight away , but i think this could be a solid album , every band loose something special about them at some time , stratovarius have but lets not focus on the art ( seminal to the album itself i know) in the end its about the songs .

Bad cover..? No way, this looks sexy hell. Hot angel, nuclear weapons, explosions, armageddon...

Only on metalstorm can a band release artwork and a music clip, and have more people comment on the artwork than the music...

Oh come on, they released a sample which was one and a half minutes long. Not much to talk about with that. It sounds good, but I want to hear the whole damn thing! Talking about the awful artwork is much more interesting.

Not necessarily, but only on metalstorm can there be so much hate towards it.
Sword_Chant - 09.12.2012 at 00:47
The music sounds ok, kinda like a Sonata Arctica song. The album cover is yet to grow on me, though. It's not the worst cover i've ever seen, there have definitely been worse Stratovarius album covers.
Iamawalker - 24.12.2012 at 12:28
"Elysium" was a masterpiece in my opinion, and also the first Stratovarius I've gotten into despite having a few of their albums in my colection for some time now. Really looking forward to this. I hope they keep that frozen-soundscape/celestial-atmosphere going on in this album as well, as those elements were what completely drew me into their music and made them one of my favorites.
