Lee Dorman, Iron Butterfly's bass player, was found dead on December 21st. He was 70 years old. Lee Dorman also played for the progressive/psychedelic rock group Captain Beyond. According to TMZ, the bassist had a history of heart trouble, he was found dead in his car and authorities don't believe there is anything suspicious about his death.
Dorman joined Iron Butterfly before the release of their album 1968's In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, a massive hit best known for its 17-minute long title track. He performed on their next two records before they temporarily disbanded in 1971. He rejoined the reunited group in 1977, and except for a few hiatuses, performed with them regularly over the next three decades. Iron Butterfly declared him their "driving force" and "a major influence on bass players for the past 30 years" on their official website.

Here we go again.
It's feels pathetic to see musicians passing away like anything. Srs, how many we have to see more before 2012 finishes? |

This is sad. I literally came home from buying In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, this is weird. What does it mean?
R.I.P.
These guys meant more to me than just one song. They were innovators and gave us amazing music. Goodbye Sir. |

| It's strange to read "found dead in his car" and "nothing suspicious about his death" in the same sentence. |
