Children Of Bodom - Begin Recording New Album Tomorrow

Children Of Bodom will start recording the follow-up to Relentless Reckless Forever tomorrow with Jaska Raatikainen taking care of the drum recordings first. The band has been rehearsing the new songs which are now ready. The new album is planned to be released in 2013 via Nuclear Blast.

Drummer Jaska Raatikainen issued the following message: "Yo! Today we had the last rehearsals before entering the studio tomorrow to record drums for the new album. Last two days have been quite intensive. Playing the songs over and over again, lots of fuck ups and broken drum sticks, sweating, frustration, coffee and what have you, a little bit of arranging and all that shit.

I am convinced that the new songs are great. A little bit of black metal, heavy metal, metal, old school death metal, melodies, solos and anything you need to make a nice album. And the most important, new ideas à la COB! Stay tuned, studio reports will follow. Now I think I am ready for a beer! KIPPIS! Jaska."

Well, uh, excuse me.

Are you the one who labelled this band as "Children of Boredom" few months back?

My gut hasn't been wrong yet. Worked so far on DragonForce, Goatwhore, Overkill and Accept. So... I'm feeling lucky.

You won't be lucky anymore. Trust me.

Oh COB please do not do that if you want to continue the way you writing your last 3 albums and especially your last one.
I wasn't able to listen the last album even more than one and a half times - it is just a noise - I can't hear any music there.

I am personally even do not hope that they can do something like "Hatebreeder" or "Follow the Reaper" any more.

p.s
My personal filing that to fix the sings up Alexander Kuoppala should rejoin the band

Well I still think their last effort was quite a little comeback after two generic run-of-the-mill records, so its gonna be interesting...

I disagree, the last one was even worse than the two that came before. In my opinion they've been going downhill since forever.
Hatebreeder: awesome
Follow The Reaper: slightly less awesome
Hate Crew Deathroll: good
Are You Dead Yet?: barely OK
Blooddrunk: not good at all
Relentless: worse
At least that's my opinion.

Funny though, because I agree with you on all other albums except Relentless... I'd put it between AYDY and HCD.
And the first album was some small drop beneath Hatebreeder in my opinion.

Oh yeah, I forgot the first one, I'd say it's somewhere between HCD and Follow The Reaper (maybe equal to Follow the Reaper).
What I don't like about Relentless is that it's a return to their old style, but with the simple approach of their "later" style.
...if that makes any sense to someone else.

*Insert generic, braindead, "Herr durr I hopE it better den their last albumz herp"*

I actually thought RRF was a fantastic album, and a HUGE step up from the boring Blooddrunk. Looking forward to this!

lol exactly! I enjoyed RRF, but Blooddrunk was just awful. I hope this one will be better than both.

To be honest their lasts releases dissapointed me a lot, but I think this new album is gonna be better for various reasons.

First: They've returned with their old label with wich they released their three first albums (the bests IMO).
Second: Jaska said how the new songs will sound: "A little bit of black metal, heavy metal, metal, old school death metal, melodies, solos..."
Third: Peter Tägtgren (hypocrisy) is going to be their producer. He was the producer of Follow the reaper, the most awesome COB album IMO.
Fourth: Nuclear Blast Europe A&R representative Jaap Wagemaker said during an interview that the new album is going to be "something wild". He was probably implying that the new album is going to sound similar to something wild.

So I hope the new album is going to be better than AYDY, BD and RRF.
