Gloryhammer, a rather humorous power metal side project of Alestorm's singer/keyboardist Christopher Bowes, has introduced to the metal world its first video for the song "Angus McFife". It can be viewed below. As for the debut album itself, Tales From The Kingdom Of Fife is scheduled to be released on March 29th, 2013 via Napalm Records.
The tracklist is as follows:
01. Anstruther's Dark Prophecy
02. The Unicorn Invasion Of Dundee
03. Angus McFife
04. Quest For The Hammer Of Glory
05. Magic Dragon
06. Silent Tears Of Frozen Princess
07. Amulet Of Justice
08. Hail To Crail
09. Beneath Cowdenbeath
10. The Epic Rage Of Furious Thunder
The 'heroic fantasy power metal' band Gloryhammer consists of:
Christopher Bowes (Alestorm) - Keyboards
Thomas Winkler (Emerald) - Vocals
Paul Templing (Sorcerer's Spell) - Guitars
James Cartwright (Sorcerer's Spell) - Bass
Ben Turk (Sorcerer's Spell) - Drums
You know the difference between this and typical power metal? Many of power metallers trying to be serious during playing songs about unicorns and dragons, when Gloryhammer aren't serious:P
Oh dear , this is a mockery of power metal , i agree i think some power metal bands suck dildos but there are so many that dont and have created something special.
Edit: Now that I've had time to actually listen to this, I like it. It's not as uber cheesy as I would've expected from a power metal parody band.
Anybody think his armor looks like Oblivion Glass armor?
Haha, that was the first thing I noticed and thought to myself: "oh, glass armor!"
About the band itself, power metal (the kind where they sing about fantasy lands and stuff) is supposed to be cheesy in my opinion. I'm not a big fan of it anymore, but I still like listening to it from time to time.
Anybody think his armor looks like Oblivion Glass armor?
Maybe it's because I used to play Warhammer Fantasy Battles in my early teens, but I thought he looked like a Chaos Warrior!
Really like the song as well. I live not too far from Scotland, so it was pretty cool to hear something actually about Scottish heritage (although it's alternative reality Scottish heritage, so I'm taking what I hear from these guys with a pinch of salt).
